There is, perhaps, room for the occasional "ronery thread" - that's something that depends on moot's judgement, a matter which was not made clear in this thread. Users bragging about how hot their girlfriend is should be banned. Users doing things like translating doujinshi or producing quality on-topic original content should be encouraged, even if they're sleeping with 50 different women. If that same user then starts bragging about the fact that they're sleeping with 50 women, at that point they're attention whoring, and that should be dealt with.

This is a somewhat moderate position and I believe it is the most reasonable one.

Anyway, this thread seems to have reached autosage, and frankly all I have to say is good riddance. We need less of these threads and more threads with content relevant to our interests.

I'm of neutral opinion on ronery threads nowadays, but that's just because I got bored of them.

I don't know if they're really on topic for /jp/, but they never were on topic for /a/ - and I used to start them fairly often.

I wrote the old "I think I'm becoming normal..." copypasta, along with the one termed "RONERY RUSSIAN" ("...I just want someone to drink tea with.") which occasionally were used to start ronery threads.

I wasn't just *hated* in high school, people were actually afraid of me because of my odd demeanor (something I can't control, I have a neurological condition) - they honestly thought I was going to shoot up the school and more than one person talked to the school counselor about it. This, combined with my father's death, meant that when I got out on high school I did spend awhile as an honest-to-god NEET, cooped up in my room.

You've guessed right that I did end up eventually getting out more, and I *HAVE* had girlfriends, although I've never been a social butterfly. Overall, people tend to describe me as "distant" and "always lost in thought."

However, my ways of thinking have not changed. I am the same person that I once was. And in fact, I still spend the majority of my time surfing the web - most of it, lurking 4chan. That's steadily decreasing as I become more involved in music and activism, but it's nonetheless the thing I spend the most of my life doing (aside from sleeping).

The difference between the way you and I think, then, boils down to one simple thing. I am a kind person at heart. You are not. Whereas my isolation was one of sadness, yours was anger.
