With general threads no longer allowed on /a/ the mod is instead redirecting Idolm@ster, buyfag, KanColle and other threads here.

Those aren't generals. You can have a thread about x 2hu and discuss said 2hu all you want, but a general implies a rolling thread which acts as a center for information or 'the usual guys' about a specific topic, such as Rhythm, Kancolle, BJD, H!P etc. Kancolle and IM@S have a place on /a/ because it's getting it's own anime, while buyfag works in /a/ because it's a specific niche they're buying, while /jp/ has figure threads, onahole threads, garage kits etc.

/a/ is the worst board I've seen. If they're allowed to have their shitter threads here then I demand we are allowed to have a /jp/ anime thread, which was closed and I got a 3 day ban the last time I tried to make one.

Don't they have Muv Luv threads on /m/, too? And they have some talk of untranslated material over there. I think it would be a better place to go.
Or just move the threads from /m/ to here, too? I don't know. Muv Luv threads on /a/ were pretty fucking ass, at least on Nasuverse threads you had the anime to talk about and general discussion, ML were just image dumps and regurgitation of epic memes. Here's hoping they don't just resume that kind of posting here.

I don't know much about /a/ these days, but the every time I go there it seems like they take more and more old /jp/ shitposting memes seriously, the whole thing is just very silly to me. The whole "culture" on /a/ is unbearable, to the point where I just filter many of the threads. I used to try posting in the drawfag threads for a shitty piece of artwork or two, but you won't get a delivery anymore unless you circlejerk on IRC, are known from the regular imagedump threads, or have one of the absurdly popular waifus.

I don't mind some of listed topics themselves being discussed here, but in this case we're getting "topic+/a/ posters" bundle, which is quite another story.
Still, if they manage to contain themselves in their respective threads, we'll probably be able to slowly educate most of them to tolerable levels, because time (both in "season" and "age" sense) is on our side.

The difference is /a/ has some pretense of ``quality'', people on /jp/ realize what the board is.

I'm 28 and I find /a/ too young for me, just from their conversations you can tell some of them are probably too young to be on there. Talking about random boners and 'omg you had sex with someone/have a girlfriend/took drugs, you must be a jock/normal/stoner' trying to push society's morals on me, filthy normalfag'. So many of their posting habits, they're just like metahumor of /jp/ metahumor taken seriously, and completely misunderstood and pointless outside of /jp/.

/a/, they spout all this waifu shit, go on about '3DPD', talk about anime studios and Japan as if they know stuff and put up this image of elitism but if you actually go deeper and ask them about anime and press them for details; they don't actually have a fucking clue as to what they're talking about, they just mimic whatever they hear on /a/ because they believe people there are clever, just like the /b/ kids would mimic everything they heard on /b/ because they thought they were hackers.

Came back there for the SZS finale, got fed up by the threads themselves and left after one day. Not going to miss discussing anime with them, even with the return of Moyashimonn. They don't seem like the people I knew. The majority of them now sound like some authentic hyperactive weeaboos that just got introduced to anime recently, the kind that browse animesuki. Instead of using emoticons they abuse reaction images.

Don't be fooled /jp/, they boast about us having more shitposting, which is done by a vocal group and only stands out because this board is slow, whereas their shitposting and off-topic threads are treated as the norms.

Speaking of this, I thought /jp/ couldn't take it easy anymore but, thinking again, /jp/ takes it easier than ever.

I feel that people migrate from one board to another when they grow up. For example, I used to post on /b/ in 2005. After a while, I no longer enjoyed the typical /b/tard antics (which, of course, were quite different from the /b/tard antics nowaday), so I moved on the the board that matched my interests best, /a/. Years later, I grew tired of /a/, and have ever since posted on /jp/.

This probably happens a lot of people, so demographics on any given boards are constantly shifting and evolving. I would imagine that in five years from now, mostly everyone who posts on /a/ today will have come here, and in ten years, a lot of people who post on /b/ today will call themselves /jp/ veterans.

So, the people you call ``neo/jp/'' probably are in a lower stage of ``evolution'', as I call it, and will eventually look down on people that came after them as well, given a few years.

With age comes the realization that change is inevitable, and most of the changes i have experienced have been negative with no recourse for further change. Even though I miss my old lifestyle greatly (between jobs currently), choices in life often boil down to "fight or die". I think its the same with the old culture. Unfortunately it is my belief that we are far past the point where we could have fought to any reasonable degree to succeed, and, even if we had, we lacked the authority to be successful long-term. Easy, no-thinking-required posts dominate the board. Not just for us but all of 4chan.

A lot of people like to pretend that we can change /jp/ into something that it used to be, but a lot of our old contributors have either left, portaled, or just shitpost now. This board and many others have been getting progressively worse over the years due in no small part to the popularity of the site. Some years its more obvious than others, but the overall quality level is the elephant in the room for 4chan. Even moot acknowledges this quality issue, but it always seems like we are left out in the cold. Likely there will need to be a new site created or an existing site nurtured to take the place of what used to be. I haven't found that place yet.

See this guy on the left? That was /jp/.

I'm okay with taking IM@S, Love Live, and Kancolle, as they're Japanese franchises that aren't quite anime. Buyfag threads just seem like endless blogging so they're kind of shit, but that is one of the things that /jp/ was made for so I'll give it a pass.

Basically, Moot wants to make sure /a/ becomes once again anime and manga. Not that guy but, like he said.

Taking pre split jokes seriously (when no one else on the internet does) and twisting their meaning, taking post split jokes seriously and making it part of their "culture" / thinking they're enforcing standards of quality by shitposting. User base thinks tired memes are still funny/clever. Many users watch shows only to discuss them with /a/, also, they care too much about what the board thinks.

Gee that sure sounds familiar

No one on /jp/ cared about what the board thought.

Don't tell me you bought into that "crossie" shit, etc? /a/ does. Nearly every board has bought into the mental caricature they used to have of themselves over the years.

/jp/ was a special basket case because it was slow enough that two or three persistent retards could be able to dominate all the threads on the front page.

Gah, this is why I got fed up with those people. It was very clear that most people who picked up a show didn't do it because they actually enjoyed or were interested in it. But merely to fit in and join the discussion. As well, some people would put themselves through shows they simply did not enjoy at all for the sake of having an excuse to talk to their '/a/nons' or whatever.

Except for when Mubrub threads died out in 2013. The threads in 2014 are much more sparse than when the Anime was airing.
