I can sit around 25-30 minutes. If you sit on the floor, it hurts like hell. I tend to put a pillow underneath my knees and feet (it hurts there as well). Its not unheard of placing a pillow on top of your legs so you place your butt on that. It helps the time you can sit. Seiza works best when you're doing something (reading, playing games, watching anime) because you don't need to focus on the pain. What usually happens is that my feet falls asleep. But I do it as often as I can because I'm really stiff, and I need to stretch.
I have more problems sitting crosslegged (like how most nips sit all the time) because of the stiffness. Any tips on this? Whenever I sit like that I have to bend forward to not fall backwards

>> No.12312913

I haven't invested in an espresso machine yet and I'm not sure if I really will as the entry level pricing is up in the $500+ range. The aeropress is just fine and what I usually use.

Properly prepared, freshly ground coffee is very different from instant coffee. And unless you frequent some really good coffee houses it's much better than 90% of the places that serve coffee, sugarbucks included. It's a shame that all you drink coffee for is caffeine, there's some great flavor you're missing out on. It's like eating completely flavorless, bitter pizza for the sake of getting fat.

Me. Bagged tea is just plain disgusting. But it doesn't really matter. The kind of people who buy bagged tea don't know what the fuck they're doing anyway. I've seen some atrocities committed in the preparation of ``tea''. I've seen boiling water put on bagged green tea. I've seen people use just 2 teabags for a full pot of water (12 cups). I've seen people put cold water in a pot, put the teabags in then boiled the water with them in. I've seen teabags left to steep for days. Days!

The worst part is these people refuse to be enlightened and really believe tea is supposed to taste like burnt bitter swill that needs to be sweetened/altered with sugar and various other things. Like lemon juice. In green tea. Yum yum.

You are right about that. As far as I can tell, tea in India doesn't generally have any ceremonial/religious significance, but instead, drinking tea has more of a traditional and practical (wake up in the morning, help sleep at night) appeal.
Still, the tea is very good, and I feel that any tea enthusiast should give it a shot at least once.

I think tea is worth checking out in general. From the places that grow it and the places that have their own culture based on importing. I have a slight East Asian bias myself, but this is /jp/. I would like to get some good quality Assam and Darjeeling eventually.

Is maccha worth a try?

Kinda thinking of trying it out but the traditional way of brewing it seems like it takes some work (going to the store and getting the materials) while looking like a weeb.

Tea can be quite an investment. That is, if you actually want to brew good tea, using quality loose leaf tea and real, quality tea ware. Chinese and Japanese tea ceremony both require totally different tea sets. And there are also different styles and variations of both the Japanese and Chinese tea sets, in addition to the tea.

I would say between 50 - 150 for a Chinese tea set depending on if you want to get every little piece, and if you get a cheap set, or piece together your own based on what you like. And this is just to start.

For Japanese tea, you have the tea ceremony to make Matcha, if you want to do that right, probably between 40 and 100, depending on how nice you want the bowl and the whisk to be. Then there is the tea ware for normal Japanese tea, which is a small tea pot and some cups, this could also cost between 40 and well over 100.

Not to mention the tea itself. I personally budget myself to around 30 dollars a month on tea

There's a hipster cafe nearby my house that sells teas and "gear" for roughly what you've paid. An Asian market just down the road sells products of somewhat inferior quality for half the price.

I'm guessing it's a combination of product quality, shipping, and gaijin tax imposed on finicky drinkers.

Satcheled tea is all I ever drink now. I haven't found any place that sells proper tea equipment without the 10000% markup.

Spearmint and Chamomile tea in my garden. Aside from that I drink Twinning Earl Grey.

Usually I drink it alone, but sometimes I'll prepare a piece of french bread with honey.

I was given one for free too, it's not that bad. Definitely a waste of money if you don't buy one of those refillable cups for it though.

I like using mine to heat and dispense water into my instant miso mix

Have you ever had milk tea with boba? It seems pretty popular these days in some parts of the world. Green tea is always an option at that sort of place, so some people must enjoy green tea with milk. Not too sure about hot green tea with milk though, since that sort of milk tea is served cold with plenty of sugar.
