To me it seems like the truth is more or less that Kyrie at least got an invitation to be part of Yasu's team. She makes sure that Ange gets left behind because taking care of a little child while doing secret stuff would be a pain.

Now for Prime, it is never stated if Yasu was killing or just making a murder mystery theatre. If we go with the "without love it can't be seen" attitude, I'd say it is a play only to get Battler to realize who Yasu is. Kyrie and Rudolf are probably just content with the money they are getting from this so actually killing anyone is not motivated.

After that it is the world of the unknown. Someone probably finds the gold, arguments start about small stuff, and chaos follows. It could be anyone killing anyone at this moment in time, and most likely it was just random that Rudolf and Kyrie may have ended up with 2 guns and had the advantage etc.

With the new Confession arc, it seems like Battler was actually a little more involved with the whole murder mystery aspect in Prime that we thought he was, since we have almost direct confirmation that he was shown the contents of one of the message bottles, presumably prior to the murders. Furthermore, if the translation is accurate, it seems like Ikukuro found Confession WITH him, as in he had it when he came off the boat.

So if we are to assume Kyrie was on Yasu's team and Yasu is following the rule of two human accomplices for the witch, Battler would doubtlessly be #2 and then Rudolph would be the outlier. If Kyrie turned Yasu down and Rudolph was instead #1, the same issue would occur. So Yasu probably (probably, because we can't be 100% sure that she followed the rule of two even though she made it herself and has opted out of killing people in the games she wrote herself to abide by her rules so it's highly likely she did anyway) did not even get to do her thing at all like in EP7.

I actually had that as a theory. The whole Yasu was writing fanfiction to read together with Battler and see if he can figure out who Beatrice is.

But the problem is all the bribing and money being sent out. Yasu would never need to do it if they were just casually sitting and reading mystery novels.

Unless of course we are supposed to look at this with "love" and see that Yasu was just generous and sent out money to all he knew were in need because to Yasu money had no meaning.

Yes exactly that's why Yasu's plan never got beyond the "Send the adults a letter" stage and they just shot each other.

Yasu's plan was hilariously flawed and in many places deliberately designed to fail.
