Im going to attempt to solder a hole that is significantly torn and damaged.

The only other time I had attempted this I found it difficult to keep the torn halves together as i manipulated the soldering iron and the melting polymer interacted with the damaged area.

My question is would it be a bad idea to sew the damaged areas together pre-soldering, with the idea that the stitching would be removed after repairs?

For reference my Lolinco lips were ripped from her front and the part where her bean is at also got ripped a bit but it wasn't as bad. I tried heating up the lips to try to recreate that difficulty of entry and make it stick back together in the front.
