Given the wording used answering the question, it doesn't seem like it'll be Amber Breaker or anything similar to it. In fact, it gives the impression that both announcements won't be focused on ero content. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced at Otakon the eventual official release of Shin Koihime Musou or Magical Marriage Lunatics by partnering with the fan translations.

As for Key, whats important here is that Vava actually agreed to work with westerners at all. It paves the road for more VA licenses.

Friendly reminder that up until a month ago, possession of actual CP was legal in Japan, and even now, the penalties are relatively mild (max. 1 year of jail time). Compare to the US, where child porn gets you 5 years...per picture. Some other countries are even stricter in their CP laws, explicitly banning "drawn CP" and in some cases even "written CP".

What he's trying to say is that Rakuen's porn is an even more obvious example than most of adding H-scenes simply because they're required for the game to sell, not because they add anything to the story they created. While I love porn as much as the next guy, you have to admit that at least in Rakuen the porn does not add anything to the experience of reading the story Grisaia no Rakuen.

The most common argument against all-ages localizations is that it's censorship compromising the original creative vision of the creators. In the case of Rakuen, it is blindingly obvious that the H-scenes were not added because the creators felt they were necessary to tell the story the way they wanted to. As such, you can't say it detracts from the creators' intent in any way. The only issue that remains with removing the porn, then, is that buyers get less value in the product they're buying compared to the original version - rather than getting Rakuen plus bonus porn, you only get Rakuen. It's like complaining that a company isn't also releasing the fandisc when localizing a title. I'd rather get Rakuen without the bonus porn than no Rakuen at all.

Ideally, if Steam allows it, we will get both all ages and 18+ releases of Grisaia and get a perfect release with H-scenes and new Vita content of the titles (if that is what Dovac is pushing for with what he has mentioned steam is tentatively fine with.)

At this point however it is clear that Sekai Project or no Sekai Project, the Japanese companies are going to see Steam as a revenue stream they want to exploit. Between the success of Go Go Nippon, what Higurashi will sell, and what OELVNs are doing on there now, everything is point at Steam as the way for the struggling Japanese industry to make money overseas.

It is much better for the Western community to have MangaGamer/Sekai Project, with people involved in the community already and composed of employees who are willing to listen to what the existing VN community wants, to take the exploratory steps into Steam VNs and set the boundaries to what needs to be censored to be as limited that they can be (or preferably none if Steam allows both 18+ and all ages releases to be done). Consider the alternative of what would happen if Moenovel or someone with their attitude was setting the standards for what VN localizations on Steam would be, that would be an outright disaster if other companies decided to emulate them and releases like Moenovel's Konasora became the norm.

That's very unlikely. Even if there's a large possibility of revenue, the Japs really aren't likely to notice the English market in a big way. It's just how they approach business. The only real exception are international companies that started in Japan, like Sony or Fujitsu or whatever, and no VN company is going to get that big ever. Besides, there already is a lot of pressure to release all ages versions of VNs due to the console market over there and even then nips are more likely to release two versions, 18+ and all ages.

Neither. The issue here is that the nukige-buying audience and the non-nukige VN buying audience are two entirely different groups. Nukige buyers aren't nearly as enthusiastic or technically proficient as 'real VN fans', meaning that
1. They are easy to sell to; they'll easily shell out a few bucks for a quick fap and don't want to have to do difficult piracy stuff; and
2. Nukige buyers rarely upload the games they've bought. They generally neither care to upload it nor know how to do so.

It often takes weeks or months for localized nukige to be uploaded.

For example, I bought from MangaGamer titles like Eroge and ImoPara. Heck, I even actually bought Ruby Striker because it was pretty cheap and the message the company sent to the fans overseas was quite positive.
But I also bought other titles like both ef games, KnS and Otoboku.

I think this all comes down to whether or not the person is willing to spend a certain ammount of money to enjoy the VN. Unfortunately, many still think that paying for that enjoyment isn't worth it. That makes sense. The cost and amount of effort that goes into drawing backgrounds is much higher than it is for drawing sprites and often requires several artists at a time, unlike sprites which can just be done by one artist. That's why R07 also doesn't do his backgrounds.

Not true. I read Higurashi just fine with them. Hated the photographic backgrounds. Hated them in Umineko too (thank god for Alchemist). Normally I don't have a problem with them but R07 goes out of his way to make them look as ugly and indistinguishable as possible.

Oh wow, I wish I read Umineko with the improved graphics and voices. I remember back in '09 I read them as they were coming out. People have it so easy these days. They can just download and read it whenever they like with these beautiful graphics. Back then, waiting for a translation with Ryu's artwork was such a painful bitch, because that's all we knew! You'd go onto Witch-Hunt's website everyday hoping for progress only to be disappointed every time, and "Meanwhile at Witch-Hunt" was relevant. Eh, I'll most likely re-read it again sometime soon using those graphics and voices. Also why should I kill myself once again?
There are millions if not billions of people who like way worse things than chiru out there, so what's the point of telling me this?
Killing me would serve no purpose, you would only get a few less visual novel translations actually if I were to kill myself and few of the doujin projects run under me would also stop.
I wouldn't care about killing myself for humanity as I do not care for humanity, so that renders that argument for killing myself also null.

Wasting time is also just a stupid phrase, as your life has no meaning, so there is nothing to waste if it your life has no meaning to begin with.
You can only waste time from society's viewpoint who only view work and self improvement, and breeding as a worthwhile effort, while everything else is practically a waste of time from that standpoint.

Now that we're in 2014, people are shitposting in the VNTS thread of all places, telling people who do not agree with the /jp/ hivemind taste to kill themselves. Yet people still claim /jp/ is superior to every other place. It's still one of the best places on 4chan, but that's only due to other boards becoming EVEN WORSE. /jp/ has had enough of an influx of new users to lose any right to claim it's a decent board anymore.

Though hilarious in hindsight considering /jp/ of all places responds to anything nowadays, the informal /jp/ guidelines even had a rule on not feeding trolls.

>Rule 2: Don't respond to trolls - If some guy posted something really stupid and provocative that made you angry and you want to kill him, don't respond to him. Don't even bother to tell him off while using sage; it's most likely a troll that just wants some replies. In /jp/, troll threads tend to be really easy to spot, so there's really no excuse for this. If too many people get baited, it will end up in a stupid 200 post long drama thread nobody wants to see in the first page.

I honestly wasn't expecting him to be a troll at the time, was just trying to make a conversation, naturally I did not expect that it would turn into such shitposting and from that initial post the argument carried itself on it's own.

No, are you seriously posting like that unironically or not? Or do we have a legitimate fedora tipper?

I don't really know what do you mean unironically or not, this is how I always post.

Well you're embarrassing yourself. You're not writing a resume and it doesn't make you look mature or polite or smart or whatever it is you're going for.

I honestly don't care what it makes look like, this is how I always post, this is how I like to post, I see no reason to change my writing habits just because of you or anyone on this board does not like it.

Not really doing this because of rebellion or anything like that, as I said previously I post like this because it is how I always posted and how I liked to post.
If my posting style was something the same as the rest of the 4chan then I would still post the same, since I post like this because I want to, not because of people's opinions or influences.

Besides writing style has once again nothing to do with maturity.
I could honestly tell you the same for writing in short sentences and just trying to be funny witty all the time with your shitty one liners or buzzwords, but unlike you, I realize the fact that wouldn't make me any more right and would just make me as bad as you.

You can't keep the moral highground when you do exactly what you say you won't, you realise?

It's okay, I was like you too once. I thought I was better than everyone else, I tried to type pompous because I thought it made me cool and made people respect me. I was a nihilist, though I called myself a "realist" and thought this was rational. The difference is I was 14. You'll grow out of it as well.

Not really, unlike you I did not tell you directly, and was instead just speaking in a theoretical scenario, naturally it was still made with the intent of mocking you of course.

I do not think I'am better than everyone else, but I'm sure as hell better in my own subjective viewpoint compared to the people who can hardly make a few coherent sentences. I type like this because I'am a writer and frequently write entire essays about various subjects or just write my own books. Not really doing it because I care about other people and what they think of me, think of it just as a habit, and it's not like I dislike this writing style as I have previously stated.

You do realize Nihilism is simply a philosophical viewpoint right? Those things have nothing to do with age, sure certain demographics and age groups might lean more towards certain beliefs, but that does not mean that only X people in that age or demographic can follow this viewpoint. Not to mention most famous nihilist were actually older people.

Besides I'am a nihilist simply because I think that there is no purpose to my life or humanity's existence as a whole, not because I want to be edgy or anything.

And yes I may indeed grow out of it as you say, since people's viewpoints can change over time as well as their personalities, I wasn't a nihilist always, I grew into this actually, and I may once again grow into something else as well, I cannot know such a thing for certain.

Ahahaha oh boy. I'm sorry, I fell for your troll hook, line and sinker, but this just gave it away. It's too stereotypical.

I cannot stop once I start something, not to mention I'am like a reverse troll, I actually enjoy the attention I get from trolls, even if I do not go to involuntarily get them, but once I actually get them I can't help but feed them.

It's people like you who turned /jp/ into a shithole and turned 4chan's traditional trolling into shitposting. There is no redeeming factor left in trolling when people purposely respond to trolls regardless of how bad they are.

>> No.12296044 [DELETED]

I do not even post on 4chan regurarly, so you cannot blame me or people like me to be honest, I simply made a single post that happened to gain the attention of the trolls, and once that happens I can't help but respond. Otherwise i do not go actually seeking attention or shitpost and most of the time I'am actually a beneficial poster, as I work on translations, doujin projects as well helping people and being informative.

Of course it will be. The best you can hope for is maybe NISA will include the original voices in the European version and you can import that. Otherwise, most popular games get undubs if you have a modded PS3.
