I think it's pretty clear that most people get their doujin free on internet platforms such as exhentai because there are always some chinese people scanning and uploading them.
In germany and many other countries the possession of "hard" stuff like the doujinshi sold on Comikets with lolicon or rape is criminal and therefore you only get your hands on these if someone is smuggling them over the border control into the country.
There are also some anime and manga conventions in germany. The biggest one is the Connichi with about 20.000 visitors in total over three days. The big difference to japanese conventions such as Comiket or Hakurei Shrine Reitaisai is that there is no market. It concentrates in having a show/theater with some acts around the subject "anime and manga" and offering some rooms or workshops where you can play fighting games, STGs or do some cultural things such as tea ceremonies. But these events are all marginal to the visitors. The main reason why most people visit these german conventions is to have a reason for anime- or mangafans to meet up together.

That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Bastard Sword" bullshit that's going on in the d20 system right now. Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.

I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 2,400,000 Yen (that's about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana.

Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.

Katanas are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.

Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:

(One-Handed Exotic Weapon)
1d12 Damage
19-20 x4 Crit
+2 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

(Two-Handed Exotic Weapon)
2d10 Damage
17-20 x4 Crit
+5 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

Now that seems a lot more representative of the cutting power of Katanas in real life, don't you think?

There's simply no doujinshi culture anywhere in the west. Westerners who decide to release proper doujin works will usually do it at Japanese conventions.

Nobody gives a shit about copyrights for nerdshit here in germany, but manymany songs get blocked for germany on youtube due to an organisation called "GEMA".

Their job is it to ensure that music artists get money out of it when their song is played in public.
Since the internet is sort of a grayzone they demanded a fixed amount from youtube for each song, which would have been way too much, so youtube just blocks a video entirely for germany whenever a GEMA claim comes up.

Mostly popular songs are affected by it, but there are exceptions, and the GEMA is definetly NOT acting in the interest of the artists since sometimes songs would get blocked the artists themself have uploaded.

Almost no doujinshi in France. Lots of cosplay in conventions, but a majority are Naruto/Fairy Tail/Bleach/One Piece cosplays.
I would guess that less than 50 french original doujinshi were published and sold in conventions until now, and even lesser R-18 works. The quality is also usually bad. I'm of course talking about manga-style doujinshi. The amateur scene in other fields such as american comics, "bandes dessinées", music, TRPG etc are probably healthy.

I've also read all french visual novels I could get my hands on. Only one original french visual novel was published and sold. Other ones are either translations, or short shitty stories, most of them made in a few hours at "visual novel tournaments" in-convention.
