On the whole, it seems ZUN threw in a lot of conflicting facts just for the sake of making Youmu/Myon impossible to explain in any way that makes sense. For example...

Youmu and Myon are one half each, but only Youmu has a hit box.
Still, Youmu feels whatever happens to Myon (apparently except pain, since Myon is dead and thus never at any risk of dying).
Youmu is cold to touch; Myon is warm.
Myon is not only larger, but a *lot* more physically tangible than other ghosts (for example, she sometimes has a shadow).
