This is just a theory, but when Jin was first really getting popular, his videos were commanding quite a crowd, and now that he's not as active, I think a lot of people kind of left. Another reason was that people were tired of commenters claiming many other songs to be rip offs of Jin's songs, even if they barely shared a resemblance or came out before many of Jin's songs.

He released a new song a few days ago and it's only gotten about 140k views and 14k mylists. A far cry from his older songs, some which got over 50k mylists on the day of their release. So I don't think he's the root of the problem.

I guess some people might have just moved on from most of it.

I think Miku as a thing is still going strong but vocaloid as a whole is on the decline.

Look at the last Project Diva, very few songs from the last few years were included in it and few tracks are hitting the 1 m mark these days.

Either way, I'll keep writing lines for Miku to sing over distorted chords and hip hop, I still love it.

Vocaloid is nothing compared to Orpheus the automatic composer. You just type in lyrics and determine a few parameters, then it pops out a song. The machine vocal sounds more realistic than Hatsune Miku, too. (a bonus point because it isn't associated with stupid anime crap)

I was going to put flags on it to show which languages they sing, but it might be confusing since some Vocaloids had language support added long after their debut. It might also be a waste of effort. I don't think Vocaloid is on its way out or anything, it's just that with the Mekaku City Actors anime airing all of Japan's attention is focused on Jin and his stuff, so not much else is really getting any spotlight. Once the anime ends the Niconico uploads will pick up again and Vocaloid will get more active. Jin is causing a lul.
