Lots of reasons, but basically in order to draw and paint constantly you have to ignore a lot of things.
But internet accounts are constantly stealing "mental ram" and keep reminding you of stuff that makes you procrastinate (like expectations from fans, productivity, etc).

I think that most of us just want to draw for fun and escapism.

But as soon as you open an account you immediately get compared to other artists, you get criticism and expectations and requests and a lot of bothersome things.

You can't play around and be on the spotlight at the same time. I wish I knew the solution so I could stop deleting my own accounts...

I upload my Touhou drawfaggotry onto my pixiv account but nowadays it's collecting dust. Owning a blog where you can turn off comments (tumblr a shit) or a website is so much more flexible, in my opinion, because you're not forced to live up to the expectations of a community.

Is it really that bad for artists?

When I go to danbooru and pixiv to look at art, I just want to see funny 4koma/doujins or look at pictures of epic things/cute 2hus

If I like, I'll bookmark then look at the page once in a while to look for new pictures. If I don't, I just don't bother to ever look at it again

Unfortunately, yes. Consumers demand a more perfect product, and most ultimately fail to understand that creating works for fun, escape, or whatever other reason that doesn't fall under technical perfection is perfectly acceptable. People feel that their time has been wasted, and that they have to get back at the creator.
