I've been wanting to play more VNs with gameplay that also have decent plots. Basically ones that you'd want to read even if there wasn't gameplay. A lot I've tried seem to sacrifice it in exchange for good gameplay and lots of girls/h-scenes, which isn't bad or anything, just a different type. The ones I've played so far are the IM series, Baldr Force, Baldr Sky, and Ninetail games except Gears of Dragoon, any others I should know about? But you don't need to change display language to nip, do you?
Because installing pirated 8 Pro on a PC that comes with 8 core version installed is bit of a pain. The product key is in your BIOS, and the setup will use that and give you the core version even if you install from a Pro disk or ISO. Of couse, there are workarounds, but no point, really, since 8 is functional enough.

And I say that as someone who has been playing rpgs for like 20 years
Rance Quest (+Magnum) is pretty good too, lots of fanservice for people who like the series too and gameplay-wise once you get going it gets pretty addicting.

Among the older games Kichikuou is pretty legendary for good reasons, it's an absolutely massive and ambitious game even if you compare it to mainstream game released around the same period.
Rance 3 and 4 are also worth doing for at least one playthrough, Rance 3 is kind of broken and aged poorly but it introduced a lot of things important to the series, Rance 4 is actually pretty solid and worth doing if you don't mind older games.

Are there any Japanese rankings of VNs that most of you would agree with or at the very least, deem reasonable? Or even if you don't agree, I'd like to see some. I want to see what the Japanese themselves think are the true masterpieces of the genre.

Erogamescape is the big one in Japan. And yes, it has entries for authors.

But honestly, VNs are one of the most subjective mediums I've ever seen, so any ranking by anyone else probably isn't going to match up with your own opinions. VNDB is bad regardless, though, because too many faggots rate stuff they haven't actually read, or "read" with machine translators. EGS isn't perfect either, since it's full of ステマ.

erogamescape. It's a rating aggregate site so I don't agree with it most of the time, and I don't know if it's "reasonable" but it's not like there's such a thing as an objective ranking so I guess egs is as good as anything.

I would, Eustia was far easier because you get a real sense of progression (apart from the true/last route), he was actually going around to settle matters, and interactions were, how do you say it, timely and very digestible? It was something that I could pick up quickly at drop of a hat and read for few hours. Sumaga was choking all over the place, and it didn't help with the setting/mechanism having shitman dying multiple times all over and choking some more. Finished lovesick puppies, skipping Maruna's route.
There's not really much to talk about, since it was pretty damn generic, not that it's necessarily a bad thing. The comedy was also alright, and didn't rely too much on manzai.
The route that stood out from the rest was Orie's. She was pretty obviously the main heroine, having a lot more content than the others even before her route actually started. That's not a bad thing though, since she and Yuki were the best heroines.
I'd play it if you don't have any better options, and don't want to risk playing a game you don't know about, since I think it's pretty hard to dislike this one.

Flyable Heart is pretty fun but sometimes the drama feels like too forced, for example when Kururi sends that e-mail to everyone by accident, or that random warp to another dimension where Sakurako didn't receive a heart transplantation. The relationship between Amane and her brother was pretty interesting, though.

世界統一
イルミナティを倒して平和を手にした…?

Literally the only trophy in the game that doesn't tell you what you have to do to get it, so it's just my luck that it didn't pop. Anyone have any ideas?

I've done every mission. All that was left in the mission list was the set of Shambhala missions and the final area.

I assume it's for conquering every territory. The only thing that wasn't converted to Zipang territory at the end was Shambhala, but I did clear it. Was that supposed to change to my territory? It did have an associated cash value...

And if I hit the wrong topic, just point me in the right direction. Not sure where else to ask for help on an untranslated VN.

I actually only started it on the PC a few weeks ago but I got busy with another VN and I left it in the backburner, so I have no idea about trophies or anything of the sort. I'm not sure if anyone else here is playing the PS3 version...

Since people were saying Luna and Ursule were the better routes, I started with Mizuho and Minato.
Mizuho's route was pretty mediocre, and I disliked how she was still bitter about accepting Yuusei instead of Asahi. Minato's route was better than I expected. They managed to fool me twice into thinking my most-hated ending(long-distance relationship) was about to happen, instead turning it around into my favorite(同棲).

Time to start the routes I was actually looking forward to, and then move on to the sequel since Risona is great.

>that most hated ending
Never did read her route but I feel as though a plot that revolves around a master-servant relationship would have to massively fuck up in order to pull a stunt like that.

Have fun with Ohoho, she's great.

>> No.12046524

Thinking about it, her route's drama was pretty damn dumb, having her family go bankrupt due to ojousama bullying. That resulted in the best part of the route, so I kinda forgot about it.

>> No.12046532

>>12046524
I figured it was going to head in that direction, which put me off it. Always hated that type of drama because it's one of the easiest to come off as contrived.

On the other hand it doesn't come out of nowhere, it's brought up in the common route a lot, and you get your money shot for her Asahi getting outed as a boy on the common route as well, so I don't feel like I missed much.

Just finished reading Dies Irae, KKK, and Senshinkan and now I feel empty. Is there any action/battle manga series that are of near quality to Masada's works? I feel like this is the appex of Nipp media and I'll never experience something this good ever again.

>> No.12046860

At first I thought it was a bait, but I'll give you the benefit of doubt because you posted the best girl.

I disagree about that being the top of fight series (i.e in Muramasa in the parts they were actually fighting it was much better than twenty minutes of spam chanting german/latin), but everybody has different tastes don't they... you may want to look for that fortissimo that everybody say's it's poorman masada's since you liked the style.

Muramasa is my favorite eroge and DI is close but Fortissimo is fucking horrible.
Good chuuni live and die by the quality of the writing even more than your average eroge in my opinion and badly written chuuni shits like Fortissimo, 11eyes, etc... are almost unreadable.

>>12046828
If you want some other good eroge with great action/chuuni try Kikaijikake no Eve and Amatsukaze.
Well Eve is a melting plot of dozen of stuff including but not limited to sci-fi, financial stuff, chuuni style battles and a hundred or so ero scenes but the actual serious plot and fighting scenes are really well written.
Amatsukaze is more straightforward in that it's basically awesome ninja action all the time for like 4.5mb of text and the final bosses have awesome tracks like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq-DHNPjSKA

For manga, I don't know, I liked Shigurui though it's a pretty different style compared to DI

>>12046874
Senshinkan has a high vocabulary but the actual prose is pretty simple, there are harder eroge out there you know

I'm not sure anyone on the English-speaking Internet is playing the PS3 version. Can't blame them, I guess.

It's certainly making it hard to figure out this trophy, though. It's separate from the trophy for the true ending, so even though that's what the description sort of implies, it's not that.
