Greetings fellow anons.

I usually lurk other boards but last year I discovered pic related and got interested with AKB groups. Problem is, the girls I sort of like and recognize from watching AKBINGO, the recommended show according to many fans, are either graduates or away from the spotlight. The sister groups failed to catch my attention, although the girl with the scandal who became number 1 was... entertaining.

Rena is the only one I really like, and I felt that it wasn't worth it to get into a group with these much members. However, I just recently learned that she's going to hold a position in Nogizaka46- the rival slash half-sister group with the more conservative concept. I downloaded their songs, liked them much better, and was pleased to know that the girls don't match the total number of people in my town. Halleluiah!

Now I know it's a general rule to be against spoonfeeding, but I'm just curious if any anon can recommend good videos to get started with Nogizaka. Right now I can only recognize the more popular faces, but I am definitely willing to learn more about them, especially if Rena will be joining them soon.

I don't trust those Nogizaka46 girls. They might all be fake as shit and I'd never find out. The bond between the AKB girls on the other hand is something really special, and I don't think Nogizaka, where there's no theater performances and it's all about single senbatsu, can ever get to that point. It just doesn't seem as much as a family. And that family aspect is the reason AKB is a group I love, and not just a bunch of separate girls I think are cute. But it may be different for you.

They actually do matter quite a bit. The only reason Rabutan has even been in the senbatsu for the last 3 HKT singles is because she ranks in the election. The order of the rankings themselves may not be that huge, but the difference between a member that ranks and doesn't rank is quite large.

If you think of those 80 members in terms of math, 80 different members have 80 different personalities the odds of getting someone attatched to 1 out of 80 is a strong business model it pretty much assures them sales on a particular girl.

The best they can do is forumlate the most desirables and target toward that trend

Closest thing to a documentary is probably 乃木坂46 – 結成1周年記念スペシャル (SSTV+HD) 120811, though it's from around when Hashire Bicycle was released and the group changed a lot in the one and a half year that follows. Other than that Nogidoko ep51 serves as a documentary for the then recently-ended 16-nin no Principal, and the next episode is a sort of flashback with footage from the members final audition into Nogizaka and their first few events.

Not documentaries but you can also watch the web released Nogikoko, though some of the older episodes are down(look on jpon.us for those). They just released two new episodes too. I recommend the bowling episodes 2012.06.21-2012.07.13 and the athletics episodes 2013.04.13-2013.05.04

Some nerd posted a list of Nogidoko episodes that was pretty good. If you got time you can go look for it, but god knows how many threads ago it was.

If I had to recommend episodes, I'd say 42-45, 48-50, 70, 88, 94, 97, 98-99, 100, 112, 114, 115, 121-122, 123-126.

Note that these aren't intro or documentary episodes, just ones I think are good. Overall the whole show is good. Watch 112 at least, it's the best episode.

Amina got eighth in the first election that had, I think 3 pre counts. Rumor was oshima fans gave up on getting first and just dumped their votes into other girls. I think it was her and yuki kashiwagi who had large jumps from the final pre count.

It's no secret that management pushes some girls over others. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes people get burned in the process.

Amina worked hard, harder than most, and she showed how far hard work can take you, but she also showed how much management can hold someone back despite individual ability or accomplishments.

Even if you didn't like her (I wasn't much of a fan), it's true that some girls were handed the brass ring and took an escalator to the top while Amina grabbed it and took the stairs. For that, she deserves respect.

Aither and RYUTist are indie idols, they're actually pretty good for what they are. I won't gush about them, but Aither does typical electronic-sounding idol music, they have 3 members but will expand to five, really charming and sweet girls. RYUTist does a ton of really odd covers and they have a theater in Niigata.

I agree they could have done much better, but consider that this is their first year. No con starts out with really good guests. I was hoping for Especia, but Aither is just as good. The western guests make me cringe a bit, especially those twins. I'll still be going, just in hopes of it happening again next year with better guests.

I'm not even sure to what extent those are the product of the management's greed or a logical consequence of the group's development, with their specific intent to involve the fans as much as possible.

I mean, the group started as an indie thing with just a handful of customers, whose feedback was always took in great consideration. Then those fans freely spread the word among fellows and the public started growing. Then, after pushing Maeda into center, it was the fans' complains again what gave birth to general elections so they could democratically decide what girls should be favored. Then, with the public increasing exponentially, they decided to reclute more girls to share the work load, as well as to start having some lottery methods for attending both the shows and the meet up events; it stood to logic that, at that point, only the fans who contributed more to the project should be given the right to receive such privileges; it was also the only way to make people buy actual CDs and other media, in this time and age when everything immediately gets pirated on internet. As a result, we do have now the insane displays of fans purchasing entire lots of merch to suport their favorites and be able to meet them... but it was the fans' involvement principle all along what turned the group into such consumerism monster.

Or so I think.
