I'm one of the idiots who has always been using a paid VPN, so I'm kind of apathetic to what's going on right now.

At the moment I'm more annoyed I spent nearly a quarter of my resources and 100 dev mats for a Kirishima. I was trying to get Nagato too. I could've done a dozen standard BB recipes with the resources I spent with that one attempt. Why do I keep doing expensive crafting while I'm sleepy?

It seems Osapi expires faster than 1.5 hours. However, it does refresh your API token so you can play for 1.5 hours. But any time you F5 or whatever bullshit trigger I don't know of yet, you'll get invalid token from osapi.

Well depends on where you farm I guess.
Yuubari (sonar + depth charge), Naka K2 (1 sonar), Isuzu is usually about all I need. I just add a DD/CL I want to level in there and I'm pretty much set.
Oh and I usually bring a CVL with Seiun just to avoid T crossing.

I found that the most enjoyable thing playing this game is doing all the work yourself, and admiring your own achievements. I really don't see how "fun" it would be to be using someone else's achievements. It's the process and the journey that's the most important, for me at least.

I'm pretty sure back in August most people were playing through public VPN and nobody got banned for it, except one guy who got an "your account is being investigated" email.

I'm currently deciding between public play and biting the bullet for a private VPN (most look to be about $10 a month). I might try to set up a Tokyo VPN through Amazon Web Services since they have a 12-month free trial.

Okay, so let's assume the worst-case scenario here:
Things are going to stay like they are (API timeout every 90 minutes), and in addition, the DMM team starts cracking down on VPN users.
Would it, in theory, be feasible to write up a userscript (FF or Chrome) that runs in a browser with proxy settings, refreshing the DMM page every 91 minutes and copy-pasting the API link into a text file on your harddrive? That would make the whole process much less tedious, at least (and also reduce the amount of time you're connected to their servers through a VPN).

Perhaps this is a really stupid idea and it doesn't change anything – maybe because they only log the login-IP.

I'm just playing in the browser now, disconnecting from VPN right after logging on, and not having any problems other than the occasional popup like I used to get back when I started and hadn't yet switched to standalone flash player.

Only problem is I really don't want to F5 anymore (which kills off 5-1 sub node grinding for me) since I'll need to reconnect to VPN every time. Also the game is going really choppy for some reason (but not slow, so it's perfectly playable), I don't know if this is Firefox's fault or what.
