That sucks. And yeah the OST is fantastic. The final boss theme is one of my favorite songs, period. OUT is great as well.

Also the sprites in this game are amazing. So expressive. I'd post happy Sanae or hat-eating Remi as an example but my own HD died.

But really the trend of sprites trading expressiveness for HD is a shame. For example DoD and NoR just don't have the personality GoS sprites do.

oh GoS. Last summer I got this game. Had a great time playing till I got to kanako. Kept trying to beat her in a silly war of attrition all the while convincing myself that "there was no way death would work on a boss. I mean its possible, but highly highly unlikely" every game. Mfw when I try it after my like, third day fighting her and it works

Give Alice Electric Runestone, it makes her immune to Shock, which Elekiter Dragon Palace requires to cause Instant Death. Then use Little Legion to guard everybody else. On the very first turn, Iku will use her Dragon Palace combo after her Static Bullets, and from then on she'll use it again somewhere between the second and fifth turns. If you're only using Alice to cover everybody, it can be very dicey to predict the exact turn Iku will come down on you again. Otherwise, you can alternate between Reimu's White Tiger Stripe (I believe?) Barrier to cancel any effects that may be caused on that turn to cover the group while Little Legion is on CD.

If you are trying to get Mad Thunder with Satori, things can likewise get a little more complicated. I managed the fight and getting Mad Thunder on my second attempt, so I was lucky.

As for bringing Iku down, have Byakuren in the party and cast Dark Sword on Sakuya or Youmu depending on your preference then just tear away. Iku should drop in pretty short order especially if you use a weapon with Slay Aquatic.

It's a lot easier than it might seem.
The only Nightmarish part was the final pre-expansion boss, but with a bit of luck I made it through.
If you can exploit the bosses weaknesses, tank with other characters (Aya, Reimu and Mokou did great), and know what's going to happen, it's doable.

At least there's always the Commander slot for safe catch-up work. It's how I keep bringing Aya up to speed, I have not ever found a use for her yet and I'm on Stage 15. It makes me kind of sad. I hear about how she's a great evasion tank and all, but most enemies have enough tricks that the Evade stat in no way protects you from their legitimately dangerous abilities, and they use them often enough that Aya just isn't able to survive.

Mokou, likewise, was a bit tricky to use as a standard tank. Balancing her available skill points between defensive and offensive options to take advantage of her strike-back effects never seemed to work out for me.

Meanwhile, Alice is designed from the ground up to cover for the group in a variety of ways, so it's just plain easy to use her. On the bright side, Mokou has a niche currently as a spear-wielder doing pretty good damage on my team to stab-weak enemies.

I beat this with Mokou,Youmu,Sanae,Reimu and Sakuya. All evenly leveled and switched in whoever else for certain bosses. I never used Alice,Satori, or the purple haired hag.

Toss Mokou+1 at the poison sewing needle maid, she'll love spamming Volcano at her. Sakuya is nice for this. You'll want to kill her fast before she does anything dumb like that 10000 needle attack and murders Mokou.

Use Reimu to block the first attack of the octopus maid, then throw a bunch of thunder stuff at her. Nitori is excellent for this. Gear up on evasion or whatever for tentacles, or just hand in someone good into Hinotori/Poison Shield to suck up all the blows.

Hyper Fang Crush can be learned from the shellfish maid, but it's not exactly that great. Neither is Vortex. Beat her up with standard magic, and have Alice absorb the random shit she charges up for.

I beat all three in that order because shortest to longest fight. Leveling up isn't that much of a deal. Trapezohedron gun for Nitori is excellent if you feel that you need it.

she's spectacular against physical enemies, dodge absolutely everything. I never tried it, but I'm sure you can combine this with inflicting Berserk on enemies.
Also, her attacks are cheap and fast. One Anon in the previous threads said that he absolutely went to town by slapping a Death inflincting weapon on her.

Just as you said though, her commander ability is priceless. Hell, you can prevent the enemy from moving by combining it with Private Square, which pretty much makes this work like Quicktime. I killed the final boss thanks to this.

Eventually it feels like they shove way too many random battles in your face. It seems like you start walking through narrow corridors with like 3-6 enemies in them and it starts to get ridiculous.

Level 19 is of course a nightmare and level 20, while not too bad actually, just got kind of boring for me. I think that from Tenshi's level onward the game starts to feel like a real drag. Great game otherwise. I kind of want to get to lingering summer heat just for the additional characters but right now I'm not motivated.

I just started playing this a week ago... I just cleared stage 10 after like, 23 hours of game play. I'm wondering if there's any way I could speed this progress up; bosses are way too cheesy.

Ie, Yuyuko death-bombing your entire team right before she dies. Oh man, the surprise I had against Satori when she healed herself to full with a elixir. I thought after dealing with Satori, Eiren and Kaguya would be easy. I didn't know one of them could revive another, so you have to kill both at the same time.... Then I forgot to time Sayuka's field effect to stop healing and they dual healed to full... So recasting the same field effect does nothing, as opposed to refreshing the CD...

Also, grinding is pretty hard too. After stage 9, I've started to switch out my characters to last longer in dungeons. After I'm oom with everyone, I just log out, go to the shrine, then run through the dungeon again... Surely there's a more efficient way than this?
Marisa is the only character that mine that doesn't oom.

Also, is it worth it to make custom items/armor for specific characters? I've only made the 1st tier,then skipped the 2nd/3rd. I can go ahead and make stuff from Youkai mountain rock now, but I'm not sure if I should save the materials

bosses who were susceptible to Permanents pissed me off a bit - I didn't find it satisfying to win that way. And the Final Boss encounter takes a looooong time. Depending who you ask, that's either great or cheap padding.

There are many ways to go about random battles without using too much MP, like just parrraring with Alice and attacking with status inflicting / highly damaging weapons. Though I consider it faster to blast your strongest spells and just go recharge at the shrine more often, after all it takes a while for the enemies to respawn.

The physical attackers can benefit much more from the custom weapons due to Slayer effects and great tree bonuses, while magical weapons aren't much more useful than the standard stuff you find in stages. I almost never created custom armors until the endgame. Making accessories like Awakened Soul however is absolutely essential.

Oh god what.... Bosses can be berserked, confused , poisoned, charmed, ect? I don't ever use Byukaren or Satori because it doesn't feel like they do a lot of damage. But it makes since considering Mokou could silence/burn/curse them.

I've realized the strength of Sanae, though. Put her in a party with Alice and cast matk up, pdef up, res up, and eva up. Then save a slot for her last word and shit is downright ridiculous. I was pretty adamant about not using her, as well.

Yeah, blasting your strongest spells is so much more satisfying. I love it when using Mokou's curse or flying phoenix and she double casts it and silences/curses/burns everyone. Too bad she only has like, 5 bombs.

I guess I'll go check out accessories and get custom weapons for the slayer effects. Thank god for Sayuka's weapon in stage 9; made shit so much easier.

I think the only time I used Byukaren was against Tewi. I put Marisa, Sanae, Satori, Patchoulli, and Byukaren with Nitori as commander.(Only Marisa/Sanae was needed, really, Patchoulli put some extra damage and Satori/Byukaren were there to dick around).

Stage 9 was a really clever move on part of the developers; I probably would have never strayed from my original roster otherwise.

Also, does Patchoulli eventually get stronger than Marisa? Marisa's master sparks have 1 sec CD with ridiculous damage once you put a ton points into laser and power. I think with Patchoulli's commander spell and Sanae's m.atk boost and last word, one master spark did 3k damage each to both Kaguya and Eiren. It was pretty sweet.

AlicexMarisa is my OTP in this game; ridiculous tank with ridiculous DPS.

Also, Kanako and Suwako's fight was kind of lame. Youmu literally killed them both. I was having tons of trouble, suddenly on one of my tries Youmu's normal attack insta-kills Kanako when she has full HP. Then her eternity blade does like 6k damage to Suwako. Suwako did nothing in terms of damage to Kanako as well. Then again, it probably would have taken me centuries to win this fight if Kanako didn't get insta-deathed. The only way to negate Kanko's damage was with Hijiri's p.atk down/m. atk down; Sanae's m.def up and def up literally did nothing.

Instead of freefight I would recommend using Poison Shield. You get no offensive bonuses, but no defense reductions either. And it has a similar baiting effect for Alice (75% target probability). AND you can easily parrar the other 2hus.

The thing is I didn't have Patchouli at first. I had Nitori, Alice and Satori only.
- Nitori couldn't put out enough dps.
- Nitori and Satori couldn't keep the water element at bay ---> Satori who didn't have a death resist amulet dies instant death ---> the only healer who dies in a prolonged battle is bad news
- I noticed that whenever I tried to change to my ELE bullets with Nitori, the boss would punish me with a powerful melee attack that would either paralyze or blind Nitori almost certainly
- Had to keep the blind and death guard on Alice too, so I didn't have enough amulets to protect everyone
- Even with max points in the right trees Nitori had a massive CD on her "Rage Eight/Radiate" (the first one being a mistranslation, thank you, Engrish), which didn't even really hit the boss, unless she had the best accuracy amulet and the boss had Satori's evasion debuff on ---> Nitori could only hit once or twice with her best damage ability ---> it's not enough dps

So Patchouli really helped me to keep the deadly effects of the boss's water element spells when she joined the fray. Basically I just nuked the boss with fire instead of lightning.
