Rate my first translation effort weebz.
That e-penis ain't gonna suck on itself.

This is supposed to be chapter 11 from Take Moon, but I have no idea how they should be counted. Also, I'm not a native speaker in either language.

Some gets much better with translation but overall it won't matter too much if it's littered with basic grammar mistakes. People might rip you for it on exhentai but at least the stuff gets translated. If it's non-h material, though, I'm not sure if I would read something with a translation like that.

Good thing I'm a grammar nazi then. Hope it at least shows somewhat.

Also, same here. Sad panda is a great place for translating stuff, but after a point I just stopped caring about them, because I felt that even I could do a better job.

Because my native language is bumfuck irrelevant. I'm going to get nowhere with it.
However I did translate anime with a friend of mine and I think we did quite a good job compared to other subbers, but I'm sure we did a bunch of rookie mistakes too.
Also, I know this (pretty obnoxious) dude who is said to have regularly done japanese to english manga translations for an international group, so I don't think it's impossible. I can't verify how much of it is pure bragging though.

>>11646412

Honestly, that's an even worse idea than what he's doing right now.

Native speakers tend to not realize that the target language lacks all those idioms and grammatical constructions that sound perfectly natural to them. It's the easiest way to end up with incomprehensible gibberish.

>>11646742
>Native speakers tend to not realize that the target language lacks all those idioms and grammatical constructions that sound perfectly natural to them
Actually, surprisingly many idioms can be interchangeable among languages, at least european ones.
It all comes down to experience though. Takajun for example is japanese, isn't he?

>Give me an alternative then.
The problem is "for what event those are for" is grammatical nonsense.

Something like "What event are those for?" is what you should have used. I'm not a translator but I would have probably translated the whole thing as "What are those for?" or "What are those clothes for?" and left out the event to make it sound more natural.

Imagine you're a random hoe and you enter a room and someone is wearing weird clothes. You're probably going to ask what's with the clothes and not what event those clothes are for unless you're in the event business and you have events going on every day.
