Does anyone have experience of more than a couple of weeks in Japan? ie. working holiday visa for 6-10 months? Or even just 2-3 months?

I am wondering what people with beginner level Japanese skills (basic phrases anyone can read out of a book type of deal) can go through? I've heard there are places that run Japanese language courses, etc..? (a large part of the experience would be learning the language first hand, for the obvious and extended weeaboo powerlevel in the future)
I want to go there for 3 months at least, come early next year, properly meet the people, experience all the weeaboo shit as well.

I would love to live and work there for a year. But I don't have a degree that would land me work there in anything specific (electrical apprentice level skills, obviously not Japanese certificate so couldn't use it), but I have seen some foreign employment agencies?

Basically, Would it even be possible? Is it possible to find people to shack up rent with? some type of homestay thing for a guy in his late 20's? I mean, just looking at any possibility here, no matter how out-there it is. Something I haven't thought of.

It'll be a big decision since i'll need to give up my (very convenient and cheap) accommodation back home, and re-house my dogs for those months i'm gone. Then obviously get much more expensive housing when I go come back home. (think; $150 a week at current, central city area, could go absolutely any direction for work and such from where I live, compared to $300 cheapest of cheap housing, in middle suburbs in either direction)

But i'm incredibly serious about the venture since i've never experienced either Japan nor traveled outside my country, hell i've only been out of my state once. With an upcoming monetary opportunity I thought I might as well look at this option to add a chapter of adventure to my otherwise reasonably mundane life.

I've asked in /trv/ a couple of times, but no one seems to really know anything outside of a tourism perspective.

Didn't think of /int/. I'll give them a buzz some time.
