Teach me how to Japan. I wanna play マザー2 and understand what it's saying. I can read it, but I dunno what it says because ぼくわぱかてす。

You realize Earthbound (Mother2) is in english right?

There's english roms for Mother/Earthbound0 too.

I'm aware, have EarthBound (prototype repro, not EBZ), and don't wanna shell out $150 for EarthBound (2). I'm not a fan of emulation and am also planning on moving to Japan soon.

>I'm not a fan of emulation

To me this just translates to "I don't know what I'm doing".

You can play it on bsnes, hook it up to a CRT TV, and use a basically original SNES controller.

There is no difference. You can use original japanese roms and pretend to be a japanese 90s kid too.

No, I mean I'm not a fan of EMULATION, not playing SNES/SF games with a keyboard. That's why I have a bookcase for nothing but games.

>> No.11493388

>>11493373
Earthbound is the easiest game to emulate. Not only is it one of the few games that looks good with upsampling filters, it's better controlled with a keyboard and remapped keys thanks to the annoying control scheme.

If you purchase the game, none of the money goes to the original developers. It all goes into the pockets of some fat collector who only wants to swindle you for an outdated game. Emulate it with an english patch, or leave. There's no secret that's going to teach you an entire language easily. This will save you time and money.

I only use emulators for testing hacks and whatnot (currently working on fully uncensored EB patch)

To me this just translated to "I don't know what I'm doing".

Emulation isn't 100%. Some games don't emulate well. To some people that notice, there is a difference.

>> No.11493397

>>11493390
There is no English patch. Only an overpriced localization.

>> No.11493398

You could get one of those SNES flash carts and play the patched game on a real SNES.

Or you could spend a couple years learning the language. Either way.

>> No.11493399

>>11493394
You can play 100% of snes games on an emulator. Not a single one won't work.

bsnes on a CRT TV with a SNES controller is basically like playing the real thing.

>> No.11493405

Earthbound is not one of those games.

Don't be stupid anon. Unlike what the hipsters might tell you, it's usually the other way around so as long as the emulator fully supports and works exactly the same as the SNES one used to be, usually it's actually PC>native machine.

There are exceptions, of course, but none in the SNES unless you're playing like Super Game Boy.

>> No.11493412

BSNES still didn't have perfect sound emulation last time I tried it (a year or so ago). It's very noticeable in Chrono Trigger, for instance.

Like Tomato?

I actually know a guy who's willing to put my patch on a Repro cart for me. I have no interest in said Flash Carts. Not because "PYRISY ES BAD" but because... I dunno, I just don't like 'em. I get the appeal, and am currently thinking about the pros and cons of getting one, but I'm leaning towards NOT getting one for some reason.

>> No.11493419

That's because BSNES is a piece of shit experimental emulator that couldn't even handle my favorite games which Japan should also love, such as Demon's Crest.

Don't be a hipster and grab Snes9x, it's still updated unlike all the other piece of shits.

>> No.11493424

>>11493419
Snes9x has the same sound problems, unfortunately, as does ZSNES. For some reason the SNES sound chip seems to be a pain in the ass to emulate properly.

>> No.11493438

>>11493419

bsnes is still updated, just under a new name (higan). Anyway, you're right. Snes9x does the same without autism and system requirements which are laughable for a 16 bit console.

Your first lesson is that it is は、 not わ。 It is still pronounced わ、 though.

You also spelled ばか and です wrong somehow.

Why do emulation fans always come into threads to suggest it, as if nobody was aware of its existence besides themselves? Like "Oh wow you guys you don't have to actually play games on the system," heads up faggot that's been common knowledge for the better half of the past 20 years. If somebody doesn't mention emulation that's obviously not the route they're looking to go for.

Mother is filled with so much flavor text and dramatic hyperbole though... At least the English translations (ie, Earthbound) are.

I can understand that emulation isn't your style. I can't take emulated games seriously. Maybe my attention span is too low, but I've never played anything on an emulator for longer than a couple hours. Something about the experience of using a console is more rewarding. I like emulation though.
