If we are going to be shoved elsewhere, /vg/ would make more sense. It would be a daily general thread over there, if we were to discuss the game.

That said, you guys are really overreacting the whole "it's becoming mainstream" thing. Sure, (western) interest in KanColle has shot up in the past few days, especially after the anime announce (pic related), but it's eventually going to die down again, slowly but steadily. There's the whole translation barrier, plus a lot of people not being able to figure out how to play the game from outside Japan.

In terms of sheer firepower, Yamato-class is the best with Nagato-class close behind. Kongou-class fast battleships are good if you want to compose a fast fleet (which supposedly gives evasion bonus, which I haven't really noticed when I tried them). Battlecarriers are nice since they have high detection (recon) stat, so they are useful if you're trying to save bauxite by not using carriers.

That was how it went for me too when I started. All my early CA attempts got me just 1 Maya, so I tried BBs instead and got 2 Mogamis, Mutsu, then 2 more Mayas. Thanks to all the duplicates I was stuck with 1 BB and 2 CAs for a while. I didn't get another BB until Yamashiro as a drop from 2-2.

At least it worked out well that my first CA would turn out to be the most useful, although I had no idea at the time. By the time I actually realized Maya had a 20 higher AA cap than the others she was already by far my highest level CA anyway.

I'm not sure if they would be giving her a second remodel since she already has the high AA, they might be giving some other average cruiser a remodel that raises AA cap, like they already did with Isuzu.

Well yeah that was an automatic bucket. Even if I don't need the ship right away I can't afford to have dock space tied up for that long. It's getting pretty bad now, I used to be able to slow repair ships in the yellow, now I'm sometimes tempted to use a bucket when they haven't even reached the yellow yet.

At least maps with compass requirements of weaker ships help alleviate some of the repair issues. That last run, flagship Zuihou was the only one below 50% so I just wait 3 hours for her. The most frustrating part is when all 6 ships are pinged by CLs and DDs and need hours of repair but none of them are worth a bucket.

Darn, they ought to cave in and release the three sizes of all girls already. I wanted to see how well the displacement of a given ship could predict the cup size of the corresponding shipdaughter, but between different artists, back-turned sprites, form-concealing clothes, an arbitrary breast size scale (RJ is 0, Atago is 100 and everyone else falls in between, then you use a Touhou character sorter-like system to rank girls by chest size and work from there) and personal bias for certain ships/classes, it turned out to be a fool's errand.

For whatever it's worth, here's the graph. Destroyers are grouped by class because they otherwise form a gigantic ink blot to the left, and there are also a couple of predictions on ships mentioned in previous threads (Plus Tokiwa, since I want to see a minelayer in this game and she is as good a fit as any. Tokiwa is also a former armored cruiser that had been serving since the turn of the century, and has a rather low displacement compared to the battlecruisers that served her role in WWII, so she is clearly set to be a flat-chested elder sister-type character. There aren't enough of these in any media, and it really is a shame.) I guess it at least shows that some light cruisers are disproportionally busty, while some CAs are terribly unlucky in the breast size department. Also, the upcoming Akizuki-class DDs might end up rivaling Yubari in size, which I certainly hope will prompt Arekishi to join in and do a CG set on them.

I realize that I probably forgot to use full displacements, ignored blatantly obvious breast size disparities or done something equally careless for some of these ships. My apologies in advance.

Exactly what they sound like. You find them as enemies starting from 2-1 map. The only supply ship you get lets you replenish your fleet's fatigue. It's more an item than an actual ship. It's one time use, and they are really rare, so I recommend you to save it if you ever get your hand on one.

- Attack turns are based on your fleet order (Does formation affect this?) usually(?) starting from your flagship. If a ship is unable to attack, her turn will be skipped.

How to 3-2:

1. Last formation for all nodes until boss
2. Do not go into night battle until the boss. You can get D and Cs on the battles and still progress.
3. Did any of your ships get damaged to orange by the node before the boss? Consider returning and trying again later. Or move on if you have a repair item on them or want to take the risk (personally, I wait until red before worrying). By later, I really mean later so you don't have to deal with fatigue. Put them at the dock and make a sandwich or something.
4. First formation on the boss node to hopefully do enough damage at night battle.
5. Give destroyers ice cream

Everybody is buffed. Everybody only goes once. Subs always go first, after which your fleet and the enemy fleet will alternate in turn order.

At least one red gun and one torp on your ship will trigger the gun-torp combo and do the same as above but for only 1.3 times per hit.

There are four combinations for the non-cut-in double-attack, you need either 2 red, 1red1yellow, 2 yellow, or 1yellow1blue. These will do normal damage (with buffed night stats) and have a chance to miss for each shot.

All effects do not stack and the highest-power cut-in will always activate should you meet the equipment requirements.

Farming 2-2 is a good idea because it gives you high amounts of T-experience in addition to potential BB drops, so your T-level will increase very rapidly and you will be able to find higher level opponents in PvP. You pick which fleet goes first, the first fleet plays like normal, while the 2nd fleet is locked into a support/attack role

The 2nd fleet supports during specific phases in combat based on the ship. What's the best setup for a fleet? This is my current one, currently on 2-2, I haven't ran into any issues into it, it's just that I only recently passed the rather minor 1-4 aircraft carrier hurdle after I got my Yamashiro and my Souryuu. They always went that one way for the resources, so I never encountered the boss in 2-2 as of yet. My dream fleet consists of Russian Hibiki, Shimakaze, Nagato, Zuikaku, I-58 and a Kitakami. How would it fair? I think it's quite balanced team.

Current fleet works if you get some more levels on it, I'd swap one of your heavy cruisers for another carrier or a CVL.

With most fleet composition you'd typically want 2 CVs or no CVs at all. With all the Wo's/CVLs you'd be encountering past mid-game, unless you stash nothing but fighters on your CV you will likely get all your planes shot down and lose about 200 bauxite per fight.
Submarines are arguably questionable when it comes to pulling their weight. They're hard as hell to level, and when you do get them to their level 50 remodel, it's still hard to say if it's worth the effort.
Running multiple DDs is fine for doing casual runs on maps you significantly outlevel, but on any of the longer maps all it take is one stray hit and you'll have to either turn back or be prepared to sacrifice that ship. ONE DD, as your flagship, is fine though.

If you want Verunui you better start leveling Hibiki NOW, because level 70 with a DD is a slow and painful climb.

That fleet likely won't get you very far into 2-4 unless you're one of those people who grinded all their ships to level 50 before tackling 2-4.
Kago is one of the weakest heavy cruisers in the game. Chitose is an extremely late bloomer. Houshou is one of the weaker CVLs in the game. Isuzu is good at taking out submarines, but there are no submarines in 2-4. You can leave Takao in if you have absolutely no choice but you're better off finding another BB.

Compass is truly the final boss. Just beat 5-2 final form in night combat without any ships even going into the yellow, meanwhile I just failed 4 attempts at 2-3 for the 2 sub mission and had to give up because of fatigue, on top of which KTKM got critted by a BB the last try.

2-4 is where the buck stops for most fleets. I did up to 2-4 with Shoho and Fuso as my only non-destroyers so you should be golden with a nice leg up on starting 2-4. I can't avoid getting crit in my 2-4 escapades but I think I deserve it trying to cheese it with killing everything before the actual fighting.
I just can't for the life of me get another BB after Fuso and than Haruna a week later. Been playing close to 2.5 weeks ish now so I'm likely trying to rush it.

I wonder if Yukikaze-Kai will be able to be modified into Tan Yang if that's coming. She actually served as flagship of the ROCN.

Tan Yang was fitted with the dual cal 40 12.7 cm mounted type 89 (Mounted on Yamato) as well as using the type 98 10mm dual mounted gun from 1947-1953. The FCS remained Japanese.

Tan Yang's 1953 refit removed the Japanese armaments. Her main guns were replaced with 5"/38. (3 of them, open air mount), 3"/50 caliber guns that replaced the torpedo tubes, Bofors 40mm guns, as well as updated depth charge launchers. (The torpedo tube was useless since "Long Lance" was not available to the ROCN)


Wartime service wise, Tan Yang sank one PLAN Corvette and lightly damaged another in 1957, just before the second Taiwan strait crisis. She held the distinction of taking Chiang Kai-shek out of China as he evacuated to Taiwan. This ship is plenty amazing in being in pivotal moments in history.

Very slight differences in attitude and demeanor for Furutaka vs. Ooi, plus Ooi lets her biting temper leak out quite often. I'd say in terms of expressions rather than voice register, Kitakami is quite different from Kako and IMO is the best character Ootsubo did for Kancolle. Kako's great too in how she's stuck on the napping issue in multiple ways, though.

Sorry I went for class, not sure if you'll still see this since there might be a new thread up later, but I'll just post anyway. I think both setups should be similar, you either hope to get lucky pre-battle with torpedoes and bombs (2 CV) or try to tank in battle and hope your 4 BB's dont miss.

CV are cheaper to fuel and repair than BB though (correct me if I am wrong), so the 2 CV fleet would be better since if RNG fails you at least you waste less resources.
