Out of the demo characters, my favorite one is Sekibanki.

Out of the full game characters, most likely Raiko. I love her personality and backstory. How she fought to keep her sentience because she knew it wouldn't last forever, how she though the other newhus how to keep theirs once the mallet stopped working, how she said she doesn't want to go back to being hit all the time... she's great. She's kinda what Marisa would be if she found herself in Raiko's shoes.

Seija - Love her abilities, she completes the 4 devas of the mountain group, like her design, she has the best stage & backstory/motivations; her personality is annoying but the rest of her qualities make up for it
Kokoro - Abilities are very fitting, she fills the menreiki niche, her story make sense and fits together by touhou standards, her personality makes sense and fits within context of her other attributes. The only thing I don't really like about her is her design, I wish it were more oriental-looking and less Irisu Syndrome-ish.

High:
Shinmyoumaru - She fills the kobito niche, her personality fits with it as well. Her abilities are bland, but passable enough to fit. Her backstory makes sense, and her place as stage 6 boss fits in the same sense that Okuu's fits: they were both being used by another, more-high status character as part of a plan instead of being the direct result of an incident.

Mid:
Wakasagihime, Kagerou, Seikibanki - All of them are good characters, their abilites are meh, but I feel that they don't belong in DDC. They don't fit in at all with the context of the story, add absolutely nothing to the incident of DDC, and could honestly just have been replaced with some other more-fitting types of youkai and it would still have had the same impact on the game's storyline - zero. Good touhous, wrong game. ZUN should have saved them for later works.
