It is really a mystery to me whether this board is the appropriate place to ask this.

But recommend some good Japanese music! I am always amazed that for such a small country, Japan is able to have such a strong and still growing music scene. Genre doesn't matter to me so long as the music is good.

Check out my blog, its fairly well known in /mu/ and its full of Japanese bands of all genres, particularly more obscure ones, ones that even few Japanese themselves have heard of. I'm sure not every band is for you, so just download a single album from each band and see if you like em.
