This one is considered to be pretty good: http://lkaexe.supersanctuary.net/thmnemer18/
You'll have to adapt a bit from standard Pokemon because the typings are a bit different, but aside from that, it's pretty much smooth sailing if you have played Pokemon Emerald in the past.

So, /jp/, what would you say is the WORST Touhoumon version?

Personally, I'd say it's a toss up between Insane and Another World, but I'd love to hear about even worse than that.

I do think these cover the bases pretty well. Back in the days, I played one hack that was pretty damn bullshit as well - at one time, your rival turns up and throws (amongst others) a Mima at you - her typing was Ghost/Dark, which completely lacks any sort of weaknesses in 1.5. Of course, she comes down at you with level 30 and several moves with base power above 100, while all wild Touhou you could grind on were on the level 10 to 12 stage. This encounter makes me aggressive even by remembering it. Too bad that I forgot the name of this particular hack, but I'd say that it was damn annoying as well.

The only 1.5 hack I've played is that one with the shit starters and that gives you a vocaloid near the beginning. Needless to say I turned it off immediately after the latter happened. Want to weight in on that discussion on the random number generator in your hack that is currently taking place in the Shoddy forums? From what I can see, the memory location for the RNG seed that this one LUA script has does still work, i.e. it starts at 0 and counts up from there. You might not score 1HKOs without hitting for 2x damage, but those other two move slots could benefit you much more in the long run, i.e. status, buffs, haze and whatever. Oh, and if you limit yourself to two attacking moves, you're usually well covered by the moves you obtain via leveling up.

that entire pool is competitive. here's some suggestions on forms:

defense/advent mokou
- defense is annoying to crack, advent hits hard

reisen/advent reisen
both are really fast, advent has high satk with heart/reason stab, regular reisen is also fast but has access to mist ball to hit a little harder

yumemi
-really fast special cleaner, powerful stab ice beam and luster purge

speed yorihime
- good fast calm mind cleaner. regular yorihime can work but she's unfortunately a lucario without life orb

attack/speed marisa
power vs speed and coverage, attack has ridiculously powerful blast burns but is completely shut down by earths

attack/defense tenshi
- power vs utility, attack is in the (un)fortunate 95 speed tier and has belly drum/swords dance, defense is a sturdy physical wall that can spike without reliable recovery

nitori/attack nitori
self setup swift swim rain sweepers, nitori is special while attack is physical

attack suwako
- earth/steel typing blocks both rapid spins, good bulk, nice 80 speed, hits crazy hard

helper/attack keine
wall with no weaknesses and recovery vs miniature aggron

technical byakuren
swords dance extremespeed cleaner, can bulk up too

attack shou
physical sweeper with stab earthquake and tailwind

good luck

You know, I kinda forgot about WL. I guess it just didn't leave as much as an impact on me, since the whole game was rather clunky and silly.

Another World started out good, and made me think it was gonna do something amazing, though. I guess I think that because it got my hopes up only to throw a ZReimu at me and smash those hopes into the ground, and after that it was just disappointing, especially after how decent the first portion of the game before Kanto was actually done. Maybe that's because the original plot ran out after that, I guess...

- I release it as a patch that's meant to be applied to a copy of emerald already patched with your patch, no data of your hack actually being distributed

yes i would because i have stated i don't want it being used as a base rom (which is disrespectful to the original hacker) but then it becomes direspectful to both the hacker and the player by saying "to play this you need to get this guy's hack and then apply my patch to their hack" and that's simply not cool

i haven't done anything special with that any other person couldn't do with all the available tools, so it's not that hard to just do it yourself. it's also far more satisfying knowing everything you've done with your rom is your own work (barring graphics of course but eh) and not just something you piggybacked for maximum lazy.

it'd be for the best to start from a clean rom too, since there's not much room left for expanding it - there's only unown's slot left for adding one single puppet, there's not a lot of free space left in the rom, and if you try to add too many more trainers then you'll start having npcs that don't work or even overwrite previously set ingame events.

Depends on how many Touhou you raised and which types you raised. If you have a good typing (i.e. earth or water), you can kill most problematic Touhou even in the same level range in the gym. If not, you might be in for trouble if you didn't focus on 2-3 Touhou (and are thus overleveled).

Play Emerald. You'll probably find the differences easier to manage if you're not that familiar with the originals. The main differences:
- Touhous are much cuter.
- Individual moves can be physical/special rather than it being determined by the move's type. This is also in the generation 4 games.
- New type chart.
- Most Touhous have alternate evolutions via using shards on them.

>removing potion use in battle means I need to have more health to survive the same number of attacks which means more grinding is needed to level up my puppets and get more health
if that's how you want to think i cant change it, but the intention was for people to actually accept it and have battle plans for what they'd do when something is fainted and can't just be brought back into play with a revive, not "wow i can't take this hit i guess i should just grind until i can" unless you're ~12 levels below something (which usually only happened with the league, which is why i lowered their levels a while back)

I'd either need more puppets with neutral resistance to wind or to level up the puppets that I already had. given that the puppets I was able to encounter in the wild were about 8-12 levels under the gym leader's puppets, I decided I'd just level those that I already had.

Alice is your obvious choice for a starter. Off the top of my head defense Kaguya is cool. Some of eirin's forms as well though iirc she's only bulky on one side of the spectrum.

Eirin is one of my least favorite Touhous. I'm talking bottom five. Kaguya isn't all that much better.

Hrm. Defense/Advent Yukari fits the bill I think. Patchy dies swiftly to physical but has great sp def. Attack patch takes this even further. Reimu is pretty well rounded, if a bit slow. Shou is pretty bulky. Iku to a lesser extent. Satori's alright.

I dunno, go to a touhoudex and check out some stat spreads.
