So, this girl...
Does this mean Gensokyo's border is weakening? She said something to the likes of getting her power from the outer world...

>> No.11347309

Gameboys and ICBMs fall out the fucking sky in Gensokyo. The border has never meant shit.

>> No.11347372

Yes. Touhou is declining and even Zun knows that.

Expect the next game to be the end of Gensokyo and the Touhou series as a whole.

Actually that'd be a good idea, since ZUN should got children soon.

Though I'm a bit disagree that Touhou is really declining, because he make these games not for you or anyone else, but himself. So just let him do what the fuck he want.

>Expect the next game to be the end of Gensokyo and the Touhou series as a whole.
/jp/ has been saying this since its inception and nothing has happened, though.

If anything, I expect more time in between releases like Ten Desires, because ZUN has a life and is super busy nowadays.

TH15 is all about a group of nazi demons who worships both Seija and Konngara, they are trying to rebel against Reimu and Marisa; However, Arc Angel Metatron invade Gensokyo and kill all the demons/youkai in unexpected action.

Marisa will fight Metatron but it failed, Marisa dies after fighting Metatron.
Reimu found the secret border of Gensokyo, she saw Lolified Deus-chan/Allah in girl form, unexpected final danmaku fight with love, Reimu dies after that.
Gensokyo was destroyed and revived as a new Paradise.
Marisa reincarnated as an Angel while Reimu reincarnated as God of Boundaries.

Marisa x Loli Metatron OTP
Reimu x Deus-chan OTP

and they lived happily ever after.

The rate of growth in Touhou's popularity has been steadily declining for a few years and in a few more it will start to get less popular.

The rate of growth of /jp/'s popularity is already in the negatives and number of posts has dropped by about a quarter of the average from all previous years.

If you actually project them with the expectency of a continued trend then /jp/ will have ended in 4 years and Touhou will have ended in roughly 12-15 years as far as noticeable popularity goes.

So if and when it ends it's unlikely any of us will be around to post about it.

I think part of the reason "Touhou is reclining" is because IOSYS PVs became old and stale. Lots of secondaries were introduced to 2hu by Marisa Stole the Precious Thing or Cirno's Math Class or Overdrive or something, but the videos they've been recently making have never hit those views. Also related to this was the general popularity of trending 2ch meme phenomena like Vocaloid and NND medleys, or at least that's how it was for me, and those have became stale too

Maybe we're all just getting old and tired of 2hu, because while the fanbase and popularity is declining, the games themselves haven't changed much (excluding HRtP), no matter what you say.

It's always 6 stages + Extra of shooting youkai girls with hair decs and good music or the occasional fighting or gimmicky photo/cirno/versus danmaku games, and that hasn't changed even now.

>> No.11348457

>>11348336
Have you considered the possibility of ZUN releasing a new hit game or god-tier doujin devs putting out god-tier games/anime?

All Touhou needs to regain that illusion of popularity of some meme-deserving event so that all the autistic secondaries can start flocking to it and referencing it everywhere (like Nice Boat).
I'm not sure if another game or doujin stuff will do that, but the 2hu recline doesn't seem like a linearly extrapolatable trend.

Touhou is at its peak more or less give or take a year or three. The cirno and last photo game are still relatively new and fresh as far as these things go. Don't be that guys that talks about stuff like "fanbase" as if the westerners buying cheap cosplay and downloading pirated doujinshi, games, music, ever factors into how popular stuff is in Japan.

Think of it this way. Imagine you make something and it gets popular in your home city, and spreads to the next few states. You keep on doing something because it works and you enjoy it, and heck so do your fans. It makes you a little money on the side, some people make derivative works, it's all good.

Then one day someone tells you that a message board of overtly homosexual virgin losers in Mongolia or Srilanka of something with mental disabilities that sometimes meet up dressed in bootleg copied costumes based on your work are discussing the fate of your work/hobby and lamenting that it isn't as good as the old days.

How much of a shit do you not give? How much is it going to affect your next work despite it having no relevance on your actual fanbase and people that buy your stuff?

Why do you care if touhou dies.

>> No.11348624

>>11348484
>pirate
Touhou is for pretty much all intents and purposes abandonware unless you live in Japan. I dislike how people criticize others about this, ignorant to the reality of the matter. Yeah you can buy Touhou games, but that doesn't make it reasonable.

>westerners
I'd be willing to bet that within the scope of the entire world with the Japan exclusion has a larger collective than Japan does. But is the rest of the world as collaborative? Not really.

>good old days
Pretty much as you explained it. There isn't a single community I don't think that doesn't have at least a small group that doesn't think along these lines. As an added bonus, they tend to be pretty vocal about it.

>> No.11348882

>>11348624
>Touhou is for pretty much all intents and purposes abandonware unless you live in Japan.
No it's not. Touhou gets translated and patched quickly these days by egomaniac furries who want to impress their internet fans. You can try and justify it or you can just say you don't care about the creator's ownership of what he makes, from the day its released onwards. I dislike how people try to sugarcoat their piracy.

>entire world
Japan is the only country that counts. It is a Japanese game, made by a Japanese citizen, born in Japan, in Japanese, made for a Japanese audience, with lots of reference points for Japanese culture, and for a Japanese audience, sold to Japanese customers at a Japanese event. That someone in Pakistan downloaded a pirated version of the game translated by some western furry into English does not give the Pakistani fanbase any relevance. That some closet homosexuals dress up in Touhou costumes does not mean anyone else cares. If you think otherwise then get a grip on reality.

>There isn't a single community I don't think that doesn't have at least a small group that doesn't think along these lines.
Yet the point is, the non-Japanese internet fans are not relevant to the production, popularity and enthusiasm of the Japanese Touhou fanbase which produces almost all of the content.

My stance is quite simple. Be a consumer and take what you want. But don't make the mistake in thinking you have any relation to the original community unless you live there or go to the events. The fact a non-Japanese "fanbase" gets hold of copied distributions of works 3rd, 4th, 5th(?) hand from the creator is merely incidental.

Arguably 4chan and 2ch have far more in common than any doujinshi or doujinsoft groups and followings with groups outside of Japan. Yet those websites have nothing to do with each other.

The escapades of moot in Japan should show you how little anyone cares about the west simply because it has almost no influence on what goes on in Japan.
