By the way, they implemented backup squadrons for the event. That's what the event expeditions are for. Send one out and go to the event with your main fleet and they'll help out.

A good fuel efficient sub-team is a light cruiser and 3 destroyers. Easy to restock and you can just keep sending them out for 200 fuel.

I've been playing this way too much since I started last Wednesday, between this and Neptunia I haven't even started Grisaia.

What's so frustrating in this (aside from all the bullshit randomness) is the balance between leveling your favorite ships and leveling the most useful. Inazuma quickly became my daughteru and I just couldn't quit using her as my 1st Fleet flagship, even as she wound up surrounded by carriers and battleships. At least once I upgraded her it lifted her stat cap and I can buff her armor way more.

Fuck map 2-2, I swear that compass is rigged. I once got 10 straight boss fights while trying to do the "sink 3 transports" daily. To add insult to injury, you have to complete that one BEFORE getting the "kill 5 bosses in region 2" daily.

A good source of fuel is the first expedition in the 2nd map, send a handful of light cruisers and destroyers off for 4 hours and get 350 fuel when they return. My shortages are always seeming to rotate though, at one point I had to bench all my carriers as my bauxite vanished in the blink of an eye (fighting other players with carriers is a great way to lose too many planes).

Yeah, spamming 400/30/600/30 for battleships or 300/30/400/300 for carriers should work, based on the wiki's data, I'm not sure that tossing in extra resources does anything to improve odds. I'm pretty sure it's just pure luck.

I had great starting luck with carriers, got Jun'you and Kaga on my first two attempts. On the other hand my first 12 battleship attempts got me just 1 BB and a bunch of duplicate heavy cruisers (at least that 1 was Mutsu)

I've actually only made one attempt before server issues booted me and I didn't even get to fight the boss (fucking compass). I had Inazuma, Yura, Isuzu, Kitakami, Mutsu and Yamashiro, and made it through the fight before the boss with minimal damage (probably would have been screwed if I got sent north instead of through the easy submarine-only fleet).

I'm sacrificing excess light cruisers like crazy to Isuzu and Kitakami to get their armor up, fortunately Isuzu is pretty good on armor after upgrading.

And yeah, I ordered a PS3 to play Neptunia (and other stuff) last Wednesday, wound up trying out KanColle while I waited for it to arrive, next thing I know I had no spare time for anything else.

Leaving gameplay aside for a moment, what I want to know is why the FUCK does Choukai get almost no art (like 4 pages on pixiv last I checked). Shimakaze does nothing for me, but Choukai made my dick diamonds when I acquired her a few days ago (dat midriff, dat pose).

It might be my imagination, but it does kind of feel like we're getting more (good) art of other ships lately instead of just Shimakaze. There's always been plenty of bad art of the others, but it was obvious the good artists were just jumping on the bandwagon with drawing Shimakaze. Maybe more of them are actually playing the game now and getting their own favorite ships instead.

Unfortunately 2-1 has no transports, only 2-2 and 2-3. 2-1 is good for carrier kills though, guaranteed two or three, mostly light carriers.

I think next attempt at the event map I'm going to drop underleveled Kitakami for someone with surface firepower (probably Maya, her AA capability might save me against the carriers too). I doubt I can get as lucky again as I did the first attempt trying to bring 4 ASW ships, where Inazuma sank a battleship during night combat. If you can do that much with just 2, hopefully 3 will work for me.

Roughly speaking, the first one is max offense, the second is extra defense without hurting offense, the 3rd and 5th are big defensive and ASW boosts while crippling offense. 3rd is also supposed to be good for carriers. No one seems to really know what the 4th one is good for.

There is, but you can get 90% or more of the stuff by yourself, i think the only things you can get are stuff like avoiding your ships sinking, but true Admirals protects their women.
Also, you can buy materials with points, and buckets and stuff that will avoid you waiting for 4 hours, or you could be crafting the whole day and just buy points when you need. It's really free, but you would must be waiting 4 hours or more some time unless you pay.

I think I've spent the past few hours waiting on units to repair. I've been switching in some while others repair but it just never ends. Holy shit that was a disaster. That was the first time I faced off against a fleet with a Flagship. Bombers were flying around on both sides. Shots were being missed. Nothing was being evaded. All I wanted to do was explore 2-4 and now I have to pay with buckets.

Well, I just managed to beat the 1st map boss fleet (without actually sinking the boss submarine), but ended up losing my Yura in the process as the boss critted her for 129 damage. Fucking enemy fleet before the boss targeted nothing but my ASW ships so I went in with her already in the red. This is after I already had to abort two runs and instant repair Yura and Isuzu when they got critted by destroyers and weak submarines.

Then I realize defeating the boss doesn't clear the map, I still have to grind it until I deplete the red gauge. FUCK.

When a ship is fatigued[orange] it's stats are diminished and it has a small possibility of being sunk. When is a ship is very fatigued[red] the stats are greatly diminished with a high possibility of it being sunk.
To get rid of fatigue let the ship rest for 10 mins. To get rid of it completely, let the ship rest for 20 mins or just wait for Akagi to repair at the docks.
Wiping out the enemy fleet during day combat and getting MVP will also recover fatigue.[?]

Then I started running out of steel instead, which is a lot less efficient to make up with expeditions. (then bauxite, then fuel again). I've only ever succeeded in making one depth charge equip, and I wound up losing it with my Yura against that fucking boss. Problem is, making a specific equip is essentially impossible, since there's a zillion different things that can be made with the same numbers of resources.

Has anyone taken off their ship's equipment and remodeled yet? Do you get an upgraded set of equipment while keeping the ones you took off or does it not give you anything if you do that?

Remodeled and class changed my Chiyoda from a seaplane into a light carrier. Pretty glorious, she's much more useful now. I'd say to remove equipment before doing it, they'll pop up with new ones. I think.

I was looking at the wiki and realized that Abukuma and Kinu (the two rarer Nagara-class cruisers), although starting at only 20 ASW power, end up with 50+ after upgrading (and they only need level 17 to upgrade instead of 20). So they're additional good choices to go along with Yura and Isuzu. Time to grind up my Abukuma now.

That's about the only thing remodeling my Mogami was good for, got better seaplanes for free (then got more from upgrading Chiyoda).

Yeah, I finally realized this today; also I thought the gauge depleted just by winning battles on the map, but nope, apparently it only depletes by fighting the boss fleet (sinking all ships supposedly lowers it by just under 25%). Now I'm really pissed about losing my Yura and depth charges for almost nothing. Time to grind, grind, grind now; spent all day trying to grind more light cruisers on 2-1 and 2-2 until nearly every ship I had was damaged.

My poor heavy cruisers have practically gone by the wayside thanks to this event; with all the light cruisers I need to grind, there's no room for anything else but battleships and carriers. Isn't it sad, Choukai?

The wiki has basically all the text in the game transcribed (including the ship descriptions on their individual pages) so you can look everything up there and rikaichan it (it's a flash game so obviously you can't use any translation tools on it directly). For some of the ships there's even been people recording all their spoken lines too.

She is in almost every stage from the first map, and the second one too. There is a little trick to get her at 1-1-A, just put 1 girl in your main fleet and go beat 1-1-A, and then go back, repeat until she drops. Experience is shitty, yes, but this way you almost don't waste resources and it's quite fast (but boring). Since you put your girl as the fleet captain you don't get fatigue either.
You could use this to level a low level ship too.

Holy shit, I didn't realize finally acquiring Aoba would lead to a barrage of new fleet composition missions. Too bad it's completely unrealistic to complete most of the associated sortie missions without a bunch of pointless grinding. I wasted loads of fuel sending the mostly lvl 1 西村艦隊 out to 1-1 and then was wondering why I didn't complete the mission, turned out I had to kill the 2-3 boss with it. Very funny. Likewise have to beat 2-3 with that fleet of old WWI heavy cruisers + Tenryuu + Choukai, of which only Choukai is leveled. At least I should be able to pull off beating 2-2 with the 4 Takao-class cruisers. It's fucking awful though how upgraded ships can't be used for those missions.

Man, upgrading Mutsu was a massive disappointment for all that leveling then 800 steel. Her maxed firepower and armor went down slightly, and her firepower cap doesn't even improve; meanwhile her AA plummeted 20+ points. About the only good out of it was getting an additional two 41cm guns.

All the hollows I've gotten were pretty much from crafting. The wiki is usually right on the money. The only problems you may have with the wiki is crafting because you'll get various reports of successes and sometimes you just have to pick your poison and pray to the gods that you get what you want.

Nah, I didn't feed her a single ship, I try to avoid doing that before remodel (except some of these light cruisers where I want to buff armor while grinding them). She maxed out firepower at 99 and armor at 89 just by leveling, then they go down to 93 and 87, but I can only get them back up to 99 and 94, how lame. Her AA got all the way into the 60s just from all those level-ups then after remodel drops to 41. She does gain some evasion and hp, and her 3 luck improves to a whopping 5.

I'm actually finding myself now having to feed ships to ones that haven't remodeled yet, all my upgraded ships are virtually maxed and I'm always sitting at just under 100 ships. It sucks that you can't keep one of every ship, pretty soon I'll have to start getting rid of my only copies of some unneeded destroyers.
