>What does working in a graveyard entail?

I'm sorry if I was unclear. It refers to the time span I work in; 10pm to 6:30am. Some people have different names for it. I've also heard it called Third Shift

It's definitely more pleasant than working day shifts for us social anxiety types. Not only do you make more money due to shift differentials (basically the later you work, the more you tend to make), but you have to interact with fewer people

I literally do nothing but say hello to my supervisor, pick up a pager and my work keys, and go do my rounds in near complete solitude, only occasionally being passed by someone who is just as eager to ignore me as I am to ignore them. Then I put my pager and keys back, clock out, and go home

All in all, it's about as good as I can ask

More recently, researchers have suggested six specific criteria required to "diagnose" hikikomori: 1) spending most of the day and nearly every day confined to home, 2) marked and persistent avoidance of social situations, 3) symptoms interfering significantly with the person’s normal routine, occupational (or academic) functioning, or social activities or relationships, 4) perceiving the withdrawal as ego-syntonic, 5) duration at least six months, and 6) no other mental disorder that accounts for the social withdrawal and avoidance.

It took away many of the things I planned to do in life. Whenever someone looks at me, I am afraid and anxious, that they're looking at my eyes and judging me for not looking normal. I can't look someone in the face when talking to them. I can't speak in public, nor when called upon in class and would end up crying when they did. After a while I stopped going to high school. I don't know what to do next in my life now that I can't become who I wanted to be; many options have been taken away.

I'm not sure if you're trolling or just have no idea who I am, but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt.

In addition to almost 7 years as a confessed meme addict, I have moderated the largest meme forum on the Internet (at over 2 million subscribers) for over a year. You think I don't know memes? In that time I have removed over 400posts for not following subreddit guidelines. In addition to my moderation responsibilities I am one of the most active writers on knowyourmeme.com. You think I don't know memes? Then how do I write articles about them on a site called knowyourmeme? Several mainstream blogs have contacted me to ask about the recent meme phenomenon and each has been thankful and enlightened with what I had to tell them. It's not just limited to blogs though. Several companies have asked me to review their meme ads to avoid a failure like Toyota's meme commercial. Just last week a major food company contacted me with a paid offer to help them on a new ad campaign. I declined when I researched the company and saw that they had contributed money to socially conservative groups.

It's safe to say that I am one of the world's foremost experts on memes and in fact there is no one I can think of that has a meme resume as impressive as mine. So please tell me, what are your qualifications to say that I don't know what a meme is?

In 7th grade, I took an SAT test without preparing for it at all, it was spur-of-the-moment, I knew about it about an hour ahead of time and didn't do any research or anything. I scored higher on it than the average person using it to apply for college in my area. An IQ test has shown me to be in the 99.9th percentile for IQ. This is the highest result the test I was given reaches; anything further and they'd consider it to be within the margin of error for that test.
My mother's boyfriend of 8 years is an aerospace engineer who graduated Virginia Tech. At the age of 15, I understand physics better than him, and I owe very little of it to him, as he would rarely give me a decent explanation of anything, just tell me that my ideas were wrong and become aggravated with me for not quite understanding thermodynamics. He's not particularly successful as an engineer, but I've met lots of other engineers who aren't as good as me at physics, so I'm guessing that's not just a result of him being bad at it. I'm also pretty good at engineering. I don't have a degree, and other than physics I don't have a better understanding of any aspect of engineering than any actual engineer, but I have lots of ingenuity for inventing new things. For example, I independently invented regenerative brakes before finding out what they were, and I was only seven or eight years old when I started inventing wireless electricity solutions (my first idea being to use a powerful infrared laser to transmit energy; admittedly not the best plan).
I have independently thought of basically every branch of philosophy I've come across. Every question of existentialism which I've seen discussed in SMBC or xkcd or Reddit or anywhere else, the thoughts haven't been new to me. Philosophy has pretty much gotten trivial for me; I've considered taking a philosophy course just to see how easy it is.

I don't know. I think I was born with it. But it grew more severe when I got older but It's not very severe since btw etc

I just sometimes hear chimes and shouts. It's quite funny since they appear from nowhere and without warning. Shouts are like jumpscares. It's annoying.

What about corporate NEETs?

I think the phrase "college neet" makes sense if you don't go to class or do any work. But you probably won't be in college long like that.

There is a straight difference in it. You actually can't figure out from where the noise comes from. Then there are things that you can just mistake for something else like when you are very tired. Thankfully I don't see things yet.
But if you can clearly hear them frequently I'd say go to doctor.

sometimes i hear sounds that sounds like vague, distant mumbling, other times it sounds like someone is calling for, calling my name, also things that no one else seemingly picks on. i also see rapid flickerings of light, sometimes it pops in my periphal vision, other times the its a very fast, thin stream of light.

sorry to bother you with stupid questions, these things don't bother me at all, but i got curious since you mentioned hearing shouts

So it was my birthday a few weeks ago. I decided to leave the house for the first time in days and go out to eat so I could think in my mind I have some semblance of normalcy in my life. I have no offline friends so when I got to the entrance I simply said "table for one please". No I didn't stutter or have le epic spaghetti spill. I swear the server seemed a little miffed at this despite her forced smile. The waitress seated me at a table with four chairs near the entrance to the kitchen. After I ordered my food I noticed the place was getting very busy, the other tables were filling up, the busboys and waitresses were going in and out of the kitchen, and a short line was forming at the entrance. Before my food was bought out I swore I heard one of the servers behind the kitchen entrance wall say something about me- I couldn't hear it clearly but it sounded like "yah three empty chairs there"; something in regards to me sitting all alone at the table while there where others waiting to be seated. After I was done I paid in cash, and I only had $1 dollar bill left over. I didn't want to be rude by under tipping so I dug around in my wallets coin compartment and dumped about another dollars worth of change on the table. Then I returned home and resumed posting on /jp/ and a certain other board.

I work at a restaurant in the back, been going strong for a couple years now.
As you can imagine, shy people don't last too long on line, you have to be constantly interacting with people, letting them know where you are always.

Because of that, I tend to stay in the back portioning, and that seems just fine for me.
I think I'm getting better at talking though.

>Can't tell anyone about anxiety without getting a shitload of "YOU JUST GOTTA DO IT BRO, FUCK THE HATERS."

Yeah, thing is everyone has "anxiety", it's hardwired into our brains.
It's when it interferes with daily life too much that it becomes a problem, that's what most people don't get.

I haven't been to a psychologist but I think I may have anxiety or something, the streets I usually have to travel are practically always empty, but when I encounter someone I get very nervous and uneasy and my thoughts become "please stop looking at me, please stop looking at me, I want to die, I want to die". Fortunately I don't plan on leaving my home until October.
