I don't know. I have been enjoying Alst. albums a lot over the last year. I remember discussing them a lot in /jp/ threads and there seemed to be a general consensus that the Dancehall series was good but then suddenly it seemed like it was the "in" thing to hate on them.

If you don't like long dragged out intros and the seamless transitions between the tracks (that gives you the whole "one long track" feeling about the album) of course you won't enjoy it. I completely understand how someone wouldn't like it and find it boring, but I personally enjoy it very much for the most part.

There aren't that many uploads right now anyways because, like I said before, mostly everyone in Japan is either asleep, or heading home still so they can go to sleep. Hearing the difference now isn't the reason to encode to FLAC. FLAC uses lossless compression, while MP3 is 'lossy'. What this means is that for each year the MP3 sits on your hard drive, it will lose roughly 12kbps, assuming you have SATA - it's about 15kbps on IDE, but only 7kbps on SCSI, due to rotational velocidensity. You don't want to know how much worse it is on CD-ROM or other optical media.
I started collecting MP3s in about 2001, and if I try to play any of the tracks I downloaded back then, even the stuff I grabbed at 320kbps, they just sound like crap. The bass is terrible, the midrange...well don't get me started. Some of those albums have degraded down to 32 or even 16kbps. FLAC rips from the same period still sound great, even if they weren't stored correctly, in a cool, dry place. Seriously, stick to FLAC, you may not be able to hear the difference now, but in a year or two, you'll be glad you did.

Edit the .cue file and change .wav to .tta, add the .cue file to foobar2000 select all then convert to mp3, make sure to have lame.exe.

I would suggest coverting into mp3 v2 if you're going mp3, but vorbis is a better lossy codec.

I do not get why this bandwith and disc space consuming lossless madness continues at all. MP3 320kbs is quality wise near-lossless to most listeners. Anyone who has TTA/FLAC encoders and doesn't trust mp3 should just use AAC then. I mean, imagine you want to UPLOAD 10 albums and every is between 100 and 500 MB. Today you get HD anime episodes at filesizes smaller than 500 MB so it's BS to waste so much space for a music disc to which you won't listen so often.

To be honest I only really go for lossless depending on what other qualities are available.

I'm usually fine with 320/ v0 or something if that's available. In the odd occasion where you have something like 192 and FLAC though I'd go with FLAC.

Not that I want to start an audio quality debate, but personally at least I can't hear a difference between 320 and FLAC so I stick with that when possible.

I did some research on it and the outcome was that between lossless and 320k there would be virtually no difference in the spectrum of the human ear, but v0 scored a bit worse. That's why I settled with 320k. However, things may have changed. What I really don't understand is that you either get lossless or mp3. AAC has much better quality - maybe lame is able to get to the same level - and is nowadays supported on all mainstream operating systems and players, at least more than those lossless formats.

If one would offer something like v0-like AAC I would be perfectly fine with that. A good AAC encoder is supposed to output CD quality at 128 kbs, so I suppose you are safe beyond 192 kbs.

The actual cause for telling people to stop thanking was because half the posts in the upload thread was several people just thanking every upload. Nobody was angry because the uploaders were thanked, per se, the problem was the volume and the general cluttering of the upload thread. Anyway, it got really annoying very fast, and eventually led to splitting discussion and upload to separate threads.

Ever since some faggots have either parodied this or used it as a very convenient excuse to shit up the thread and report download links. It's nothing more. Nobody in this thread has in reality been bothered by people getting thanked.

It works wonders too. Every time there's at least someone who doesn't know why someone's objecting to thanking and takes the bait, even if nobody else does.

Seriously though, you're free to thank to your heart's content in the discussion thread. The upload thread is for uploads.
