It was something like, if you had a Softbank phone, you could register multiple times to the monthly NMB mobile membership, simply by changing your email. So because membership is only 315 yen, this amounted to people paying only 315 yen per vote. Which means if you know about the exploit, you could buy like 4 votes, for every body else's 1 vote. Can anyone explain the strange animations set to AKB songs found on the DVDs? They're kind of neat (I especially liked the type B one) but it seems like an odd thing to add to the DVD.

When did Sasshi start to get so popular? I'm not very deeply into AKB, nor very long. Only got into them with S1 of 0048 and only occasionally lurked the threads, but if I'm not wrong, nobody used to really give a shit about her.
Now she's being traded as one of the possibly highest ranking members in the upcoming election? I'm glad for her since I like her, but I don't really get what has changed

She improved pretty steadily since she joined the group, her big leap would probably be the 2011 election when she entered the top ten.
I don't think there was ever really a point where no one cared about her (she's always ranked in the election).
It's more that she got better at refining her character and had more oppurtunities to show it off as AKB's popularity increased. Ohta pro does a great job getting her work, so that's a factor too.

AKB is honestly too mainstream now. It's no longer depends on the 'creepy' wotas anymore to sell their CDs anymore(actually, they do), nor to come to the theater. Even their fans are mostly new mainstream fans that didn't know the group's background and foundation, how they come this far.

Of course, but they're mostly the ones that we got here, so at least in that little community we got in the internet, their vocal opinions are probably those that we have to deal with.

I'm saying with experiences being in the fandom in these past few years, even back when AKB is still barely hitting 20,000-30,000 copies per single release, the western fandom are mostly the ones that can't relate with the no-boyfriend rule, even after you explain that their whole business back then relies on selling, 'fantasies', you might say, and the rule is there as a part of the whole deal. But as I said, things changed.
