There was an announcement of a Team Surprise revival just a couple of days ago, so it's hardly unexpected.
Which is not to say I'm not happy. Last year's compilation was great and I loved all the effort they put into the songs and the PV. Hell, as far as Takamina is concerned, Oteage Lullaby was a better solo single than Jane Done.
I hope they'll keep the quality high with this second stage.

I remember they are being called team fugly back then though, and save for Mayuyu and Yukirin, have always been shafted pretty badly in the family, but somehow developed into Team Cute probably because Mayuyu is there, and the fact that the way they realized that they are the Underdog and tried really hard to improve seems endearing to some of the fans.

To be honest, over the years in the industry where you have to deal with the haters and trolls that sometimes are just there to simply ruin your day, having those that earnestly supports you must be something very valuable to them regardless of how they look. It sounds cheesy, but I think they at least cherish their fans to some extent.

That's the case for popular members of course, but for the unpopular girls not even the trolls even bother to troll, every single one from what little fans they have are seriously very precious to them. Being ugly probably won't bother them that much. I remember a gaijin forum-friend that attends some handshake events that some of the unpopular members he met are very enthusiastic throughout the event and hold his hand really tight as if they doesn't want to let it go for some time while asking him to continue supporting them.

Having meeting them one on one over a long period of time might makes some of them uncomfortable or creep out though, but it really depends on how the wotas themselves carry themselves in front of their idols. Creepy behaviours are creepy even if you are shirtless David Beckham in his prime without the stupid tattoos.

At least that's how it used to be. The orimembers starts from dirt-like existence in the idol world so a lot of them at least knows who their main supporters are back then. AKB nowadays are honestly too big and mainstream, so I'm not surprised if some of the girls especially the new ones think that they are some kind of divas and fail to realize that those guys are basically are the main force that help pushing AKB to the place where it stands today.

You know, there are some of the idol otaku that actually dedicated their lives into supporting new unknown idols just for the sake of supporting. Apparently they feels like parent watching over their kids trying to achieve their dream, so they make sure that the girls will have someone supporting them through their early stages where almost no one knows about them so that the girls's dreams won't end just like that before it even begins. That's why sometimes you can see even the most obscure idols have some guys attending their events since some of them are this type of wotas.

The wota who support obscure idols like that are pretty amazing, it's wonderful that girls from groups that will probably fail still get to feel like someone really cares about them.
