I have to stay awake till I am completely exhausted otherwise I never stop thinking about things being shit.

Basically whenever I can't distract myself from my own thoughts. Sometimes I listen to drama CDs to help with it because it distracts me enough from thinking about anything else while not being so taxing that it keeps me awake.

About a month ago. I was feeling emotionally and intellectually drained, everyone in my family was being a shit, and I didn't have any money. On top of it, my heart was beating funny, I couldn't sleep, and was getting panic attacks daily.

The suffering of those people bears no relation to your own happiness. Stating that you have "first world problems" implies yours are any less significant than "3rd world problems". This is wrong as can be seen in the fact that less starving Africans won't make you any happier. Essentially they are two separate and unrelated issues so implying one is any worse than the other is a retarded position they are just different.

The reason for my caveat was simply that I realize my problems are insignificant in the face of legitimate life-or-death problems the rest of the world faces.
