>>10773002
Rollback is a method of controlling game state synchronization that greatly mitigates the effects of networking delay (ping and such).
It basically simulates this lagless gameplay by taking you and your opponent's inputs and aligning them appropriately as if they were executed in a 0 delay environment and will do "rollbacks" or corrections for any inaccuracies that happen.
Input delay may also be used along side rollbacks to reduce the amount of corrections needed in high ping scenarios. This prevents jerkiness and overall unplayability caused by the repeated reversions and corrections.

Many people prefer it to the common method of just delaying input by x amount of frames.

GGs. EX ice can be blocked high or low, so I'm not sure what you were doing that was stopping you from blocking it. It shouldn't be anything to worry about as long as you're blocking in some direction on wakeup.

>> No.10780751

Yeah, I thought it was weird. I was usually holding 7 and sometimes it would hit me, sometimes I would block it in the air. I doubt it's the caster's fault, but it was weird. Well, without the caster I wouldn't be able to play so smoothly with someone on the east coast, so it's pretty great. Maybe I can really get back into Melty now that I can play with all the EC people.

>> No.10780808

4 delay is 80-112ms
5 delay is 112-144ms

Yeah, GGs. I had no idea how to get out of that corner pressure. I only figured I could DP between the gap where you're picking up your knife, but reacting that fast is almost impossible for me.

By the way, it's common courtesy to let the loser of the match choose the menu option in case they want to switch characters. Unlike in client, through caster both players control the same menu.

>> No.10799049

>>10799039
Oh, I wasn't aware thats how the caster menu worked

Basically the blockstring has 2 or 3 gaps where you can try to use some kind of defensive action out, but I try to switch it up as much as I can (not very much because I haven't put a ton of time into it, just got that string down), but it does frame trap at 2/3 of the gaps and the other one I can't get to connect consistently

but if the blockstring does go correctly it is 100% guardbar so you need to just learn the points where you can do something

I haven't played this in a while, but if I remember the guard crush set-up you're talking about correctly, there are a few ways to more or less negate it.

C- and F- moon characters need to instant block to make sure their guard bar doesn't get depleted, while H- moon characters need to save some meter and alpha counter. There is also the obvious DP/EX during gaps in the blockstring. Probably a bit harder online though.

you might want to be a little less aggressive with her and a little more ambiguous. i would say the same about your ryougi, but you can guard crush more easily with her at least
be careful about abusing your j2C, especially if you play people offline. for that matter, be careful about spending so much time in the air if you play people offline, especially if you're playing against a character like ryougi who hits half the screen with each ground attack. there's actually this c-len player i see sometimes whose strategy is repeated j2C crossups, so i dash in 5A or air throw him before he can get the move out

>> No.10807079

I never really practiced anything with Len so I was just mashing out what I saw in videos and such

And with Ryougi I don't really bother to switch strategies until they stop working, and it didn't stop working today

So, I was thinking about trying this game but the size of the cast is kind of intimidating. Anyone have some character recommendations for someone who mostly plays SSF4:AE as Gouken?

Ryougi

>> No.10808718

>>10808656
I'd say Miyako ONLY because of the wall toss/fly away followup combos, but Gouken is too weird to compare to any archetypes in Melty. Just tool around, you're the only one who will know in the end which one suits you best.

>> No.10808884

>>10808656
Really there is no good comparison for Gouken in this game

When I think gouken I think:

Zoning
Hits like a truck
Normals that don't cover a large distance but have decent hitboxes

Maybe Aoko? only barely though and she doesn't hit nearly as hard
>>10808718
>Just tool around, you're the only one who will know in the end which one suits you best.
Basically this, regardless of how similar a character could be, its a different game and you will inevitably prefer slightly different things.

>> No.10808921

>>10808884
Now that you mention it like that that kind of sort of sounds like Roa but yeah.

>> No.10808933

>>10808921
Roa actually makes a lot of sense because I consider a lot of goukens normals to feel 'awkward' in that they aren't what is traditionally expected, and Roa is the same way.

Also any east coasters want to play?

It won't actually LAG, but you'll get massive input delay.

This is probably a stupid question, but are there any characters that don't jump into the air for all of their BnBs? I've never been able to get the hang of jumping in the middle of a combo in a fast game like this, it's one of (many) reasons I don't like to play Marvel.

>> No.10812516

>>10812503
Kohaku+Hisui, but you'll need to utilize switching between them, which I imagine is harder than jumping.

>> No.10812555

>>10812516
Well it's not the jumping as much as landing things after jumping, but yeah.

The ones that let you stay on the ground are generally much harder

C-Kohaku/H-Kohaku both have grounded BnBs but just very strict timing with links and such.

Same with C/F-Arcuied
