I'd recommend either Agastya's Emerald hack or Aichiya's Fire Red hack. In my view the former has more interesting gameplay (good difficulty and allowing all forms pre-E4 mixes things up) while the latter has stuff like a custom soundtrack and a completely edited script. Also Hoenn vs. Kanto. Give them a run and see which you prefer, they're both very solid.

Play the Agastya Emerald hack. It may not have new regions, but it has a working Battle Frontier and the balance and difficulty are way better. Another World/World Link just end with you being forced to use only characters that have LW forms since all other characters are useless. Almost every endgame trainer will just throw 900+ base stat Touhous at you or use LW too.

>> No.10391365

>>10391186
Some characters can solo the game (mostly sweepers) and it's better in 1.8 since for example, Satori can serve multiple roles, not just as a Wobbuffet. But there's a couple of potential issues: 4x weaknesses, some puppets are plain weak (unevolved forms, Reisen II), or ones that don't match your playing style. Barring those you may just have to level a little higher than normal.

Also you'll probably want to make an exception for HM slaves even though some of the moves are worth using.

>> No.10391759

>>10391186
As >>10391365 said, keep at least two (completely) different typings around that do not overlap in weaknesses (for example Fire, Water or Reason, Faith). That way, you can switch to your backup Touhou and get away with it most of the time. As for coverage, you can check http://maya.sector-5.net/py/touhou/intective/ if you're too lazy to read the type chart.

Having a bunch of wall Touhou isn't as important in the game, as the AI generally doesn't come up with tactics that would require walling, so you're usually best off evolving all your Touhou into attack forms. Personally, I find wall Touhou boring and hard to level with.

It depends on which evolution you want. Early on you're access to shards is going to be limited which may be a deciding factor in some cases. If evolving by stones it is a good idea to wait till around the level they would evolve anyways so they learn all their moves.

>> No.10399663 [DELETED]

Its almost time for me to evolve my yuugi, but I'd like some opinions first.

As per wiki, regular Yuugi has 30 more p. attack in comparison to d. yuugi, and also more speed, but she wont get stab from dream-type moves. I dont know if I need yet another A-form on my team so I was wondering if it'd be better to just go with the D-form for STAB, or would that bonus 30 points to her base attack do more for her attacks? I'm not too terribly familiar with pokemon past the basics, so I was wondering if anyone knew which one would end up with more damage? STAB or the +30 points into attack?

>> No.10400114

>>10399663
if we're restricting the discussion to dream type attacks I'm pretty sure the STAB will outweigh the base stat difference.

>> No.10400161

>>10398634
Personally, for people new to 1.8 or Touhoumon, I'd stick with the regular evolutions. For one, you can look at the chibi puppet's base stats and decide easily what role it would fit, and that role will still apply when evolved. The side evolutions usually do a 180 on you and the puppet ends up with a completely different focus, so the moves you will have learned up until then sometimes end up useless. Of course, this is only a problem until you can access the Move Tutor.

Besides, I find that the regular evolutions offer the most balanced movepool.

Oh, and the overall stat sum is the same for all side evolutions, so you're not losing any power regardless of choice.

I'm not into competitive battling and such, but for my own Touhou, I always try to carry a STAB move and a move that would be effective against this type to prevent getting stalled by a Touhou of the same type. I'm just going to ask this here, probably a stupid question:

How do you use the Heart Stones in Puppet Play Enhanced 1.18? Do you have to just use it on the one you want before they evolve by level? Or do they have to be holding it when they evolve by level? Every time I've tried it just says "Huh?" and that's it.

It's pretty simple. It work the same way that stone evolution work in vanilla pokemon; just use the shard on a viable puppet, level doesn't matter, as long as the puppet can use the shard.

Unless you're playing Fire Red, in which case you won't be able to use shard evos until after you beat the elite four. Sorry

Hey guys, I'm standing in front of Victory Road (in Emerald) with this team:

Dark Alice
- Aurora Beam
- Fire Blast
- Hyper Beam
- Mana Burst

Shou
- Extrasensory
- Heat Wave
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt

Yamame
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab
- Shadow Hit
- Pursuit

Any idea for adding another one? I'm thinking of dropping Yamame, so maybe some physical attacker. Or something bulky. No idea, really.

I've had a lot of luck with my D.Parsee, give her some leftovers and some slow damage moves (I've got toxic, curse, and, uh, nightmare, I think it was) , and she seems to be able to stand up to almost anything. She gets back the hp from curse pretty quickly because of the leftovers, and everything else just takes a slow death to toxic while trying to take her out.
