When I play I pretend I have a superpower. My superpower is going just for one kind of tiles because I'm racist as fugg and the other tiles are dirty niggers. It mostly only works in Jewryumon though, because shit is rigged. Tenhou is more random and it becomes difficult to activate my power.

Besides that, I never bothered to learn the names of the combinations nor their value so I guess my play is pretty average.

All you need to know is that you need 4 melds (straight or triple) with two eyes for a winning hand.

You can *call* tiles that people throw out to complete a meld,.but you would have to reveal the meld that you completed, and calls for straights can only done for discards from the player before your turn.

Riichi Mahjong requires you to have at least one yaku in your hand, or scoring hand, and the available yaku can be easily searched up on the net.

Being able to play proficiently however, that's much more harder

So this made me think of another question. Can you get stuck in furiten even if the discarded tile would only make you win if you were able to rearrange your open groups? Like, if the 789pin and 456pin were open, so there was no way I could win with the 7pin remaining in my hand, would I still end up in furiten after discarding it?
