A lot of their boards were broken anyway. And a lot of the ones that weren't were useless.

The only board that was a part of that network that mattered was poosh (which is still up), and they are to /jp/ what /vg/ is to /v/.

They are good ways to find images and artists with a theme, not that all image boards should be boorus or anything.

I like 4-ch for discussion, but it moves really slowly.

I have fond memories of days long past like everybody else, but it's pretty pathetic how desperately some of those boards were clinging to the past. Trying to keep them alive has been a charade for the past few years, and this outcome was inevitable.

I'm fine with just world4ch these days. Unlike the other boards, it is relatively active and continues to advance and innovate its absurd culture, rather than reposting 2ch memes from the early 00s again and again.

>Trying to keep them alive has been a charade for the past few years, and this outcome was inevitable.

What do you mean? They've all been pretty much the same since they were made. In fact, that's one of the things I like about them--there was no pining for the past. The only exception is 4-ch, where Tokiko made a thread about how the DQN board had gone downhill. People promptly pointed out that it had not changed and he not been around all that long to begin with, then went back to their panda threads.

>> No.10325631

>>10325607
When the future has become the present and you're doing what you did in the past, that's "clinging" in my opinion. It's stagnant rather than nostalgic, but it's still no good for a board. Most people got tired of it and moved on.

There's no sense in drawing up a list of demands like that. Imageboard culture just needs to "happen." It stops working for me when it becomes beholden to any sort of tradition. Could you imagine what this site would look like if we were still posting Jolly Nubian and Grinman everywhere in 2013?

I have no problem with new memes. A lot of people here seem to hate them ("How dare you say 'that feel'!") but 4chan is always going to have catchphrases and image macros and snowclones, even outside of /b/. That's 4chan.
4-ch is a little different. It's not that new things don't happen, because they do (the Elitist Superstructure is a 4-ch thing and I found it funny) but there isn't really anything that needs to be added. You draw some SJIS art or use a kaomoji in ASCII or DQN, maybe it catches on, neat. Otherwise, discussion revolves around topics, and there are always new (and old) topics to be discussed.

Both systems are fine. I agree that there are message boards where people are stupid and insist everything has to be exactly as it was years ago (/jp/, for instance) but overall I don't think any of the sites mentioned ITT are like that.
