Being in a better position also increases the amount of events that can happen which will benefit you that would otherwise not be there.

It's going to be 2013 soon, and you shouldn't think that an arbitrary change in how we measure time is the right time to do anything. The right time is always the present, and everytime you don't do something at this very moment, you are losing out.
