My mom is my best (only) friend

My father is dead, me and my mother are codependent on each other.

We share no interest and she disapproves of every single thing I do, we do nothing but yell at each other but despite that we can both rely on the other to do anything they're asked.

I try my best to hide my otaku interests as that could be the straw that gets me kicked out, video games is already pushing it.

I'm close to my mom. I help out a lot with stuff at home and with my grandparent who is very old (my mom can't do a lot of the stuff because of work) and I take college classes on the side. I'll have an Associate's Degree soon after being in college for four years, haha. She says that she is proud of me. She doesn't like that I am awake all night, though, but I think she understands in some way.

I haven't seen my dad for a few years but he would probably be disappointed in me like he always was. Hes a dick so being a bigger disappointment to him by being an otaku shut-in this would probably please me to some degree.

My mom on the other hand though seems depressed/stressed pretty often and has tried hopelessly to exorcise the devil out of me.

My folks don't really care what I'm in too. They are happy that I have a job and can't support myself. Then again I'm adult so I'm allowed to do what I want anyway.

Everyone in my family fully believes that I'm a gay child molester. In a strange twist of logic, this apparently also means, to them, that I also molest little girls in addition to little boys, despite apparently being homosexual.

Their logic:
I don't have a girlfriend, straight men have girlfriends. I'm 21 years old and a virgin, straight men aren't virgins, therefore I am homosexual.

I watch anime. Anime is a cartoon. Cartoons are intended for children. Therefore, I want to have sex with children.

Never does it occur to them that for me to want to have sex with little girls, I would either need to be heterosexual or have some other influencing factor. Their logic accounts for neither and yet it has gone unchanged for years. What's more, it's impossible for me to argue their logic to them as they always dismiss anything I say.

My mother thinks that all anime are the same. As in she thinks I rewatch the same one show over and over.

She also thinks that VNs are anime, or in her case part of the same one anime.

They know I like japanese stuff, that's the extent of it. I'm extremely private about my japanese interests because I don't want to be made fun of.

I share some common interests with them and that seems to help keep things normal. We talk about television, books, political stuff and other things together.

They also think I am a gay. This doesn't really bother me, I've had people online think I was gay before. I'm used to it.
