how are touhou games developed /jp/?
what programming language, image manipulation software, IDE etc does ZUN use?

seeing he does everything himself, this kind of thing must be pretty interesting.

ZUN is a professional programmer.

> I don't use the software or programs that most indie developers generally use when I make my games. On my computer, I use my own version of DOS-V, my development environment is a compiler, Visual Studio. For pictures, it's generally Photoshop, and for music I use Cubase SX, but not Prouse. It was a lot harder for indie developers to make games 10 years ago... No matter what you made, it took a lot of blood, sweat, and effort. I don't like my expression when I exert a lot of effort so I don't do it very often. (lol)

The games are programmed in C++ with DirectX, in case that part isn't obvious.

perhaps it comes from his own money or whatever revenue he makes for each game, does he get any money of all the doujinshi artist who use his work?

He's actually really cool with derivative works:

roject
Doujin circles don't have to pay royalties or anything, they just have to credit him.

Of course, for widespread, commercial works, he asks you seek his permission. I'm also guessing he receives royalties for figs and other merchandise.

I recall someone asked the same thing once. Maybe search the archive for "zun address"?
Alternatively, email him at zun@big.jp
He speaks some English. Write simply and tell him you would like to send him some of your beer as a token of thanks, and ask what address you should send it to.

Why is zun so cute?
I mean, an indie western dev with as much dedication to his work as zun would look and act like some horrible cave beast, but zun looks like a really fun guy.
Is he the physical embodiment of taking it easy?

Actually ZUN goes to Gensokyo and has has Yukari manipulate the border of the game being programmed and the game not being programmed, so it gets done very quickly.

Also he's happy because, well, at one point he describes himself as the Master of the Hakurei Shrine, so I'm assuming he fucks Reimu.
