Chewing chocolate gives me more pleasure, the texture and flavor of chocolate is more pleasant when I crush it in my mouth and feel it melt. The downside is it lasts very short and you can consume a large amount of chocolate very quickly this way.

Melting it manually makes it last much longer but feels awkward at first and doesn't feel as pleasurable as chewing.

Well as for me, my favorite is Scharffen Berger milk chocolate with nibs. The chocolate itself is perfect and the nibs give it a bit of a more interesting taste and texture. There's a store down the street that sells all kinds of 'luxury' food items, and it's the only place I can find a chocolate bar like that. They also sell chocolate bars from a handful of smaller chocolate manufacturers.

When that's not available I'll take a Ghirardelli milk chocolate bar.

If that's not available I'll go for a Hershey's Symphony bar with no toffee or nuts. Compared to a normal Hershey's bar, the Symphony bars are much more geared towards people who actually want a chocolate bar. Over the summer I actually became addicted to the giant bars from Wal-Mart. They were so cheap and plentiful; it was the first time in my life that I've ever had an actual mouthful of chocolate.

I will never settle for a normal Hershey's chocolate bar. They smell like vomit and the reason behind that is because Hershey's uses chemicals to sour the milk in the production of those bars to give them a unique flavor. That's also why they won't melt nicely and are crumbly. If you want the best Hershey's has to offer, go for a Symphony bar.

How are you all able to purchase something like chocolate without fear of judgement?

Oh, I had a bad experience with a Cadbury Dairy Milk bar recently as well. The bar left a very strong grassy aftertaste in my mouth, so strong that I could not finish it. I'm not sure if this is normal, or if I got into a bad shipment or what. I'm suspecting the milk used was taken from grass-fed cows.

I made some caramels last year for Valentine's day. The caramel was a caramel that I had used for caramel apples, except instead of dipping the apples into it I poured it into a cooking sheet and cut it into squares. I tempered a mixture of dark and milk chocolate and dipped the chocolates into it. When the chocolate hardened the candies tasted great but there was not enough variety. This year I plan to half the caramel and coat some ganache in the chocolate, and possibly get some molds.
