using danbooru with extensions that modify the site to display 200 images a page (BBB) and going to page 200 takes us to September 6th 2018 with this lewd Graf Image

200 images a page over 200 pages is 40k images, which is more than AL has received in its lifetime since spring 2017.

from roughly the same time, September 4th 2018, we have this schoolgirl AL Takao, found on page 85

The whole point of the treaty was to restrict the capabilities of ships, but there's no denying that the designs that tried to get around it were not great

So she's sitting upright and at least parts of the flight deck are still there, but what caused that distortion of the hull? That can't have been done by bombs.

rough landing on the seafloor maybe?

>> No.22291547 [View]

>>22291536
Possibly.
Bismarck crashed into the ground and slided several hundred meters without any real distortion, but she made ground contact on even keel.
If Akagi crashed into the floor at an steep angle, that could have done that.

Armor, displacement, and number of guns.
Treaty-era cruisers have poor armor, low gun count (or a high gun count but awful ROF) and low displacement which means shorter range.

>> No.22291575 [View]

>>22291514
In order for a CA to do what navies wanted CAs to do in WW2 it needed armor, armament, speed, and range to all be at a certain level that was nearly impossible to achieve under treaty weight limitations. This only got worse when the rapid technological advancement kicked in and you had to add significant AA, plus assorted electronic equipment, neither of which were light.
Some treaty designs were better than others but they were all bad by the time any of them got into combat. The only really good CAs were the ones built after the treaties were abandoned.

Makes you wonder how Shinano will look when they eventually find her, there was no fire or explosion, if the ship didn't smash on the sea floor, it will be intact save for the holes.

well, what damage could they have received that would cause the hull to break? There wasn't any magazine explosions from deep within the ship that could break the hull like on Yamato and Musashi, and the torpedoes used for scuttling didn't cause the hulls to be broken apart.like on USS New Orleans and USS Minneapolis for example.

talking about magazines again, did Akagi and Kaga actually carry ammunition for their 8 inch secondary armament?

The fire could have weakened the structure, and/or the impact on the seafloor could have done the rest. Look what a collapsed mess Lusitania is.
Also a ship can blow up while sinking, see Yamato when she rolled over and the shells exploded.

Yes, that's why I mentioned Yamato and Musashi in my post and asked if Akagi and Kaga carried ammo for the 8 inch guns.
