here's something that might give the idea more accessibility:
in english there are many words for 'shit' with varying levels of politeness for but there is only one word for 'you' and in japanese the same concept is just reversed on those two words. more proof of the similarity is that in english, you can make the word 'you' sound rude by saying it gutturally, lower the pitch at the end of the word, combining it with an insult etc.
