As everyone knows, "Pharaoh" is the title of the monarchs of ancient Egypt.

Her being a humanoid-type accompanied by a huge snake was actually the very first thing he decided on for her concept. He already did some initial sketches of Apophis around the same time as he also felt that he should draw a genuine lamia. The two designs are meant to contrast and complement each other as sharing various basic concepts, but interpreted differently, and with different levels of inhumanity.
