Yes, Umineko is a mystery and we as readers have an obligation to try and solve it. But it's also a story with deep themes and complex characters that you're meant to empathize with as you come to understand them. That, in my mind, is more important than solving the various closed room mysteries. Kyrie summed this up perfectly way back in Episode 1.
