So, apart from obvious nogi mannequins and the likes: are 48G's in general prettier in comparison to the average japanese teen/woman?

I ask because there was this saying that, initially, girls distinctly pretty didn't make it into AKB since the point was to take average girls and watch them turn into something more...

Do you think this still stands, or they were definitely picking girls way above average for latest generations?
