>The Lunar military is very similar to the Soviet military circa WW2, even to the point of having political officers, who have the power to execute anyone they accuse of being a traitor to the Moon. Moon rabbits are explicitly called conscripts.
>The Lunarians first started the creation of special forces units after intercepting the Soviet plan to create the Spetsnaz GRU in 1949. Reisen was placed in command of one such squad, the Watatsuki sisters using their political power to artificially have Reisen promoted to Sergeant Major.
>During the Lunar War, Lunarian special forces were nicknamed 'Spetsnaz' by US forces, leading Reisen to describe her former occupation as such. Also because the actual name for Lunarian special forces is long.
>The US military adapted their strategy for fighting Soviets partly based from their Lunar War experience.
>Lunarian special forces are ineffective and basically just glorified infantry, but kept around for propaganda value.
>Most of Reisen's former regiment are buried on a mass grave near the Sea of Tranquillity. Nobody has thought to dig them up because they were just moon rabbit conscripts so nobody cares about them.
>Reisen still owns a copy of a Lunarian military law handbook. Every rule she has broken is underlined.
>Reisen has the darkest sense of humour in Gensokyo, something Eirin really doesn't appreciate, especially when referring to burn victims as "crispy creatures," the death of a patient as "We fucked it up again!" or braindead patients as "commissars-in-training."
>Eirin has had to punish Reisen a few times for using those terms in front of the patient's family members.
>The only reason why Reisen hasn't snapped and shot Tewi is because as morally dubious as her defection was, she can't bring herself to shoot someone who resembles a young girl. Tewi just thinks that Reisen has the patience of a saint.

I like the soldier characters a lot, especially Reisen. I actually have a Google Doc full of made up regiment names, military structures of various factions, and their armaments.
