If you check out the coomer threads on /toy/ they do some pretty neat stuff modifying existing toys, I myself have 2 blonde wolf girls that are stock models but for example this guy over there made this with yarn on an existing action figure body and head. If you decide to make shit using existing toys then buy knock offs so you don't spend too much money if it turns out bad or gets damaged.
