I have begun reading. I'm really determined to make it through this children's book. There is no Kanji which is really killing me.

I have made it to the last line, but there is something I cannot figure out despite my google searching. I assume I have figured it out already, but I need confirmation.

Does

もってかえって おじいさんと いただきましょう

mean

while Grandfather was Eating?

I can't figure out
もってかえって
because all the results lead me to it being with / by or rather / on the contrary.

I assume the connotation is that while Grandma is doing laundry Grandpa is being lazy eating?

Thank you.
