I wouldn't say *far* north, but middle of Europe still; it may be hard because we're used to landmass being shown in a lighter colour than the waters, but even the shapes of the map covered by the clock are unmistakable (Kamtchatka, Greenland, Iceland, Scandinavia, Hudson and the Caspian)
