Saikoroshi is fucking great. Both the VN and I think the anime did a fine job of adapting Rei.
Higurashi anime isn't worth watching until maybe a couple years later if you're bored, you'd just hate all the adaption sacrifices they make. But the OPs and EDs are legendary. And the Kira fanservice OVA.
