Both also end up going to the clock tower.
Both meet Zel at one point or another.
At the end of HF Rin tries to find Red to get a body for Shirou. Aoko tried to find a stone sorcerer who had mind wipe magic for Soujuuro.
Aoko actually reaches magic. Rin in HF gets a temporary taste of it and the 3 families ultimately reach the goal of reviving the 3rd magic (although in both cases it's used to revive a blockhead).
