Pretty much all forms of niche media are being homogenized into the bland greater internet culture. Your pic is pretty related, because 2hu has definitely begun to head in that direction recently. Shit's happened to a lot of stuff over the years, the "japanese otaku culture" or whatever you want to call it just happens to be a recent victim. The only thing you can do about it is to keep holding yourself to some sort of standard and not stoop to that level, because nobody else sure as hell cares anymore. In fact, they'll get indignant and throw buzzwords like gatekeeping at you when you call them out because you dared to expect anything besides the bare minimum understanding of a topic. Practically the only barrier of entry left is language because that actually takes time and effort. Just let the wave of mediocrity wash over you as real niche fanbases slowly fade into the depths. It'll be slightly less disappointing that way.
