My minecraft explosion guide here

tldr:
-- to mine using dynamite, dig into a mountain 4 or 5 blocks and place some TNT inside
-- 2 TNTs are probably the most time-efficient. Place them side by side.
-- 4 TNTs are probably the most materials-efficient. Pack the TNT in a 2x2 formation

Place the TNTs in the ground, lay redstone on top and activate the redstone. This ensures they are all triggered at once and a second explosion doesn't destroy dropped blocks. But be careful, you can't transmit a redstone signal across a TNT block, because TNT breaks redstone when it activates. So when activating a 2x2 formation, you need to send a redstone signal around the sides to the ones in back.
