I was surprised the news of Suzuko Mimori having a boyfriend went as smoothly as it did. There was no big outrage as I feared, outside of one or two morons dumbing it up online (that EliUmi Facebook post comes to mind). I hope this means Japan is starting to loosen up on idols never having a sex life, whether is heterosexuality or homosexuality.

Just recently Yuuki Aoi tweeted about her non-existent love life, feeling depressed when seeing women her own age have a family, and the fear of fan outrage if she decided to pursue one. Most of the replies to those tweets were positive.

Anyway, to get back to the main point. I'd imagine most fans would accept AnKing if they were gay and in a relationship, with the exception of those who wanted them to be gay with other seiyuus (I just know YohaRiko is gonna cause another EliUmi rant in the future). The only downside is that fans will start looking at other seiyuu ship teasing as legit; investing too much into something that's meant to be lighthearted fun.

2D wise, Lantis and co. would play it up with their respected characters, although the anime has fewer opportunities with only the feature film on the horizon. There was a surprising amount of ChikaZura in season two, though. Surprising in that they actually had moments together, while JimoAi continues to exist through scraps.
